Angelina Jolie took time out from the Cannes Film Festival to visit Germany to boost the morale of wounded American soldiers. She must have been a welcome distraction for young men in pain. The injured guys were sent to Germany for treatment before they return to the US for the first time since they were hurt. It’s nice to see Angelina doing something for her own country.

She probably never looked at it this way but Hilary Duff married a man physically much older than his 29 years. Mike Comrie battles pain every day – he’s been banged up and injured so many times playing rough hockey (an occupational hazard) that he has to use some kind of machine before he goes to sleep at night to “freeze” his muscles and alleviate pain so he can sleep. Mike’s back, legs and arms have been injured. He takes medication all the time and has regular physical therapy sessions. He’s been benched a lot due to injuries. Hilary will have to get used to the fact that when you marry a hockey player, you keep lots of ice packs in the refrigerator.
Injured David Beckham’s in New York doing the talk show circuit and it’s interesting how sometimes he uses those big crutches and sometimes he limps around with a boot over is foot. His damaged Achilles tendon is expected to keep him out of commission for seven months and he’s expressed concern that the lack of exercise could cause him to gain weight. As if THAT would ever happen – has he forgotten that he lives with one of the champions of self denial when it comes to eating! Victoria knows more about dieting than Jenny Craig!

Few people realize that Morgan Freeman suffered long-term impairment to his left hand in that car accident in 2008. Nerve damage left the hand paralyzed and he continues to have physical therapy and must wear a special glove to keep the hand stable. How this problem is disguised in his movies remains to be seen. He’s in New York promoting “Invictus” in which he plays Nelson Mandela.
