The Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has become one of the biggest fashion nights of the year. Back in the early 90’s we were lucky to attend one of these events and didn’t know which way to turn. The curated show itself was mesmerizing but the place was loaded with celebrities in every corner. Since then the event has become designer driven and we picked two noteworthy looks. Jessica Alba’s dress by Michael Kors is a gorgeous color on her and looks quite elegant. Beyonce looks beautiful but at first we thought her showgirl style dress was designed by her mother- a bit too flashy. But actually it was Givenchy, so mom’s off the hook.

The first time we saw Beyonce’s baby Blue Ivy, it was glaringly apparent that she was unfortunately a dead-ringer for her daddy. Now, according to US, Beyonce’s friends are saying the same thing – that she looks more like her father Jay-Z every day. But it’s not the end of the world for Beyonce’s little girl- we think her mom’s beautiful genes will eventually kick in and soften her look.

BEYONCE AND JAY-Z: HOW TO MAKE HAVING A BABY PROFITABLE

Like it or not, it appears that Blue Ivy Carter will be a celebrity before she can talk. Jay-Z and Beyonce have no intention of keeping their daughter OUT of the limelight, because they’ve already trademarked her name! According to the NY Daily News, the celebrity parents want all rights to the name in hopes of using the famous baby’s name to sell products to us! The US Patent and Trademark office says the Carters want sole rights to use the name on baby items, cosmetics, clothing, toys, video games, movies, WHATEVER. We can already picture Beyonce’s mom stitching up a line of baby clothes.

Memo to Jay-Z, who supposedly vowed to give up using the word “bitch” in his songs in deference to his new daughter Blue Ivy: TOO LITTLE TOO LATE! Your songs degrading women are already out there and always will be, even if you don’t record any more. The damage has been DONE by you and your fellow rappers and it will take more than erasing a word to change your revolting attitude toward women. If you’re looking for a pat on the back because you might have finally realized the damage you’ve done to the female sex, don’t hold your breath. Blue Ivy will grow up in the misogynistic world you and your fellow rappers created.

This photo of Beyonce, taken before she became pregnant, has created QUITE a stir because she appears to be white. It’s not the first time Beyonce has been accused to lightening her skin tone. In 2008 she was featured in a L’Oreal make up ad and the cosmetic company was criticized for digitally lightening her skin. Beyonce’s lack of pigment in this recent photo has started the fuss all over again.

DID JAY-Z EXPECT A SHOOT-OUT IN THE HOSPITAL WHEN BEYONCE GAVE BIRTH?

What the heck is going on with Jay-Z and Beyonce that would make them need a BULLETPROOF door for her hospital room? The couple spent TWO MONTHS renovating (and a rumored million dollars) the huge hospital recovery suite for her birth at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Besides the black bulletproof door, windows were darkened so no one could see in and the hallways were curtained off from the rest of the hospital. Elaborate security was prepared – both private and the hospital’s own. Whether it really cost a million dollars or not, it sounds like something Al Capone or John Gotti might have done. Other expectant parents and their visitors were infuriated when they were shuttled in and out of rooms to make sure Beyonce’s visitors were not seen. Beyonce had a make up artist and hairdresser prepare her for well-wishers and the exit with Blue Ivy that nobody was allowed to witness.

A STAR IS BORN: BEYONCE HAS MET HER MATCH IN CHRISTIAN BALE

We imagine Clint Eastwood wasn’t thrilled to hear about Beyonce’s pregnancy because he hoped to start filming their movie “A Star Is Born” in February. Odds are it will be delayed. Clint really wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to play the male lead but he passed on the part. Now we hear Eastwood has hired Christian Bale to play the celebrity husband who becomes emasculated as his wife’s popularity rises and his own eclipses. We’re thinking Bale will bring QUITE a different edge to the character. This will be the fourth remake of the movie – in the 1974 version, Elvis Presley was desperate to play the role opposite Barbra Streisand – he felt it would change his career. But Colonel Parker nixed the idea.

TOM FORD AIMS AT WOMEN OF ALL AGES – WITH PLENTY OF MONEY

Tom Ford was very secretive about introducing his new line of clothing for women. He had a slew of famous females modeling in his show but he didn’t invite the press! Only the UK Harper’s Bazaar was permitted to use photos. Ford wants to appeal to women of all ages so he had everyone from Beyonce ,29, in fishnet boots to Lauren Hutton (now an unbelievable 67) in a snazzy white suit. Since the price range is $3000 to $30,000, the buyers may be all ages, but they will have one thing in common – lots of money.
