JANET JACKSON IS BACK AND IN CONTROL

Janet Jackson has NEVER liked going to crowded places with lots of paparazzi but she made an exception today because she DOES want to create excitement for her upcoming State of the World tour (and sell tickets too!) Janet and her 6 month old son Eissa Al Mana had lunch at The Ivy (which was probably the biggest paparazzi spot the last time she was in town.) She’s been living in London and despite claims that she’s moved back to LA, we doubt that her ex-husband would let her leave the UK permanently with their child. Janet is set to appear at the Hollywood Bowl on October 8 – tickets sell from $48.00 to $2300.00!

Burka Janet Jackson Tour Vancouver

JANET JACKSON’S BACK AND SHE’S ALL COVERED UP!

Frankly, we never thought we’d see Janet Jackson onstage again after she married Arab billionaire Wissam Al-Mana. She dropped off the face of the earth for several years – presumably living like an obedient princess in Qatar. A snapshot of her at an airport swathed in black with a black veil (VERY burka-ish) fortified our ominous beliefs. Maybe she finally got bored with all that indulgence. We’re happy to see that Janet’s back onstage (she opened her Unbreakable world tour in Vancouver last night) but she’s not quite the same Janet we knew and loved. She’s no longer “Nasty.” Her Vancouver performance revealed a more demure and less naughty Janet – and her costumes covered her from neck to toe. But we’re glad to have her back.

Concert Courtney Love Lana Del Rey Tour

COURTNEY LOVE AND LANA DEL REY: A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN OR HELL?

No WONDER Courtney Love and Lana Del Rey are palling around at the British Fashion Awards. According to Rolling Stone the pair are planning to tour together. Courtney will open for Lana on her Endless Summer concert tour next year – so far eight shows are scheduled and one is at the Hollywood Bowl. These two singers are in no way alike and both are famously outspoken. It won’t be a dull tour, although some fans are mystified by the combination. (Above, they must have the same dress designer)

Mick Hucknall Reunion Simply Red Tour

SIMPLY RED’S MICK HUCKNALL: HOLDING BACK THE YEARS

On the road again. Simply Red (“If You Don’t Know Me By Now”) broke up in 2009 but Mick Hucknall and the band are back together and about to start their 30th anniversary reunion tour. Back in the 80’s, Mick described himself as a “sex addict” and said he often had three sexual encounters a day. Above, he was photographed leaving a London radio station where he promoted the upcoming tour.

Concert Mariah Carey Nick Cannon Tour Wardrobe Malfunction

WE NEVER THOUGHT WE’D FEEL SORRY FOR MARIAH CAREY, BUT WE DO

If there were any doubts about Mariah Carey being in a bad place right now, they’ve disappeared since recent concert photos from China surfaced. Mariah started her Elusive Chanteuse tour in Tokyo where her performance was an embarrassment because she couldn’t hit the high notes – or any notes for that matter. Audience members wondered if she was drunk. Reviews were deplorable. The show moved on to China where her wardrobe didn’t do her any favors, to put it mildly. Mariah’s underwear was plainly visible under a too-tight miniskirt. Is it the shock of having an album flop or the shock of getting a divorce messing up her mind? LADY GAGA IS AN “ANTIQUES ROADSHOW” GROUPIE

How does Lady Gaga amuse herself between performances on her worldwide “Born This Way” tour? She watches episodes of Antiques Roadshow, of course, and encourages her friends to watch with her. Someone gave her a boxed set of DVD’s of the show so she’s catching up on YEARS of the series. Gaga collects memorabilia and antiques herself wherever she travels and she gets a kick out of seeing people surprised by the appraised value of their “treasures.” (We love the show too, and someday will tell you about the day we spent with the Keno twins.)

LADY GAGA’S MOM IS ON THE TOUR BUS

Lady Gaga is in the habit of getting very run down on her tours by keeping late hours, partying too much, and not eating. So she invited her mom to come along on her current tour and keep an eye on her. Cynthia Germanotta, 56, is traveling on the tour bus with her daughter and she’s determined to keep her healthy. Hopefully, Gaga will be eating more and drinking less, and her only health threat will be her absurdly high platform shoes.

Charlie Sheen Radio City Music Hall Rant Tour

CHARLIE SHEEN: AMERICANS WILL PAY TO SEE A TRAIN WRECK

WHO is buying all these tickets to see Charlie Sheen in person? Aren’t we in a recession? He’s selling out across the USA and even filled 6000 seats for two shows at Radio City Hall in New York. The ticket prices are $79.50 to $519 and for $750 the buyer can meet Charlie backstage. He calls his act “Charlie Sheen Live: My Violent Torpedo of Truth,” but what is the audience going to SEE? Charlie, seated in a chair, ranting like he did on TV and the internet? Will the goddesses or pornstars be featured in some entertaining way? Who is rehearsing this act with Charlie? We picture disgruntled young guys paying for the tickets, looking to feel better about themselves. Will they be satisfied with Charlie’s show?

JANET JACKSON JOINING THE JACKSON 5: THAT’LL BE THE DAY

The most unlikely rumor of the week has to be the story that Janet Jackson is subbing for Michael Jackson and joining her brothers Jermaine, Marlon, Tito, and Jackie, on tour as the Jackson 5. Apparently Jermaine insists that Janet has committed to the tour which will use some of the sets from Michael’s defunct “This Is It” show. Granted, Janet’s last tour on her own was not a success, but this could be a huge step down. Keep in mind also, that Jermaine HAS been known to jump the gun in the past. If it were to happen, we can already picture Jermaine (who declared himself “the next Michael Jackson”) and Janet clashing over everything – starting with billing. And how would they EVER split up the money?
