EVA MENDES AND RYAN GOSLING ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD LAUGH

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are finally going out in public after the birth of their baby Esmeralda. It’s interesting that for their date night this weekend they chose to see Don Rickles, 88, perform at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. The iconic Rickles, who inspired many of today’s comedians, is considered to be an “insult comic” and he spares no one. All types and ethnicities are his targets. Early in his career he was onstage at a Miami nightclub – he saw Frank Sinatra sit down in the audience, and wisecracked “ Make yourself at home, Frank, HIT someone!” Sinatra loved him and helped make him a star. To be insulted by Rickles is considered to be a badge of honor. In this age of “political correctness” he must seem more outrageous than ever.

RYAN GOSLING IS REORGANIZING HIS LIFE

Ryan Gosling, 33, has always been the small budget Indie film type who likes sensitive roles. But now that he’s a NEW FATHER, things have changed. Those big budget Hollywood franchise movies with giant salaries are starting to look good. Ryan always nixed movies that might require sequals because he didn’t want to be tied down. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s already had a meeting with Marvel Studios about a superhero role and is entertaining an offer from DC Comics to play a supervillain. Now that Ryan and Eva Mendes have a baby daughter Esmeralda, making tons of money and being “tied down” doesn’t sound so bad.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes take themselves very seriously and go out of their way to avoid the intrusive press. Consequently, unless a paparazzi photo pops up of the couple together – we don’t know their relationship status. It’s been many months since Eva and Ryan have been anywhere together. There were reports of problems between them when they were filming “Lost River “ last year, with Ryan directing. The movie, described as a nightmarish fantasy inspired by David Lynch, was screened at Cannes this year in May and got booed by the audience. Eva, who costarred with Christina Hendricks, was conspicuously ABSENT. Because she was pregnant or because she and Ryan were on the outs? The big question now is – will they raise this child together?

RYAN GOSLING GOT A HARSH DOSE OF REALITY IN CANNES

Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut was not exactly a smash success at the Cannes Film Festival. “Lost River” was harshly reviewed although some writers conceded that there were moments of magic. Just not enough. It’s the story of a struggling single mother (played by Christina Hendricks) in battered Detroit who gets caught up in a nightmarish world of deviation. As a whole, the movie was not well received by the audience either – they booed at the end. Eva Mendes, who costarred in the film, was conspicuously absent from Cannes so she couldn’t console her boyfriend. This couple refuses to walk a red carpet together -if indeed they still ARE together.

Eva Mendes How To Catch a Monster Ryan Gosling Split

RYAN GOSLING: IS IT A BAD IDEA TO DIRECT YOUR GIRLFRIEND IN A MOVIE?

It’s been SO long since Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have been seen together that we can’t imagine they’re still a couple. Of course they’ve had dry spells before, but never for this long and we think we know why. (Remember, Ryan and Eva hooked up in 2012 when they filmed “The Place Beyond the Pines.”) In May and June, Ryan directed and produced a movie that he wrote called “How To Catch A Monster” and he cast Eva as one of the leads. The movie had a small no-frills budget and filmed in Detroit. It’s entirely possible that Ryan was so wrapped up in his project that he neglected Eva or carelessly bossed her around on the set and they clashed. Since the movie wrapped they seem to have gone their separate ways. (Above, the pair in “The Place Beyond the Pines.”)

Ryan Gosling has made it clear that he loves his dog George and takes him almost everywhere he goes. He proved himself a TRUE animal lover by writing an editorial in the Globe and Mail newspaper in Canada appealing to the pork industry to improve the treatment of animals in the food supply. Ryan objects to the inhumane practice of keeping pigs in cramped gestation boxes for much of their short lives. It’s nice to see an actor using his power for a good reason. RYAN GOSLING: DON’T MESS WITH MY EVA!

Ryan Gosling has been keeping his relationship with Eva Mendes WAY undercover. They even walk the red carpet separately when promoting their movie “The Place Beyond the Pines.” The pair met while making this movie in which they play lovers. So we were surprised when the New York Post reported that Ryan flew off the handle when a fashion photographer got “too familiar” with Eva. Ryan and Eva were outside the Bowery Hotel in New York when the photographer yelled “Hey, Baby!” to greet Eva. Outraged, Ryan charged up to the guy demanding “Who are you calling BABY? Eva stepped in and cooled them down and Ryan ended up shaking hands with the guy. But it’s apparent his feelings for Eva are highly combustible.

The Oscar Pistorius murder case is a long way from going to trial, but already scripts are being hurriedly written, and casting is in discussion. South African sports hero Oscar shot and killed his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp and claimed he thought she was an “intruder.” It’s been speculated that the baby-faced Oscar could be perfectly portrayed by equally boyish Ryan Gosling. And Charlize Theron has been suggested for the role of the beautiful but tragic Reeva, although we think a younger actress like Blake Lively would be more appropriate. It will be interesting to follow this case as it works it’s way through the legal system and more facts are revealed.

It’s apparent that Ryan Gosling is getting more and more serious about Eva Mendes. He’s in pre-production for the first movie he’s written and directed called “How to Catch a Monster” and he cast Eva in one of the leading roles. (It’s a fantasy/ horror movie about a single mother whose teenage son finds a secret underwater world.) Clearly, Ryan wants Eva with him at the Detroit location when they start filming next month. Who wouldn’t?

RYAN GOSLING LOOKS HOT IN HIS GANGSTER GARB

Ryan Gosling looks particularly fetching in his vintage clothes for Chinatown reshoots of his movie “Gangster Squad.” The movie featured a big scene with mobsters pelting a movie audience with bullets from behind the screen, but after the Dark Knight Rises movie massacre, they decided to scrap the scene and reshoot. Personally we don’t see why. Nothing can change what happened and the gangster movie scene only slightly resembled the horrible real crime. Of course, one less violent movie scene is FINE with us, but fear of “offending” someone (who?) makes no sense.
