WE NEVER THOUGHT WE’D FEEL SORRY FOR MARIAH CAREY, BUT WE DO

If there were any doubts about Mariah Carey being in a bad place right now, they’ve disappeared since recent concert photos from China surfaced. Mariah started her Elusive Chanteuse tour in Tokyo where her performance was an embarrassment because she couldn’t hit the high notes – or any notes for that matter. Audience members wondered if she was drunk. Reviews were deplorable. The show moved on to China where her wardrobe didn’t do her any favors, to put it mildly. Mariah’s underwear was plainly visible under a too-tight miniskirt. Is it the shock of having an album flop or the shock of getting a divorce messing up her mind? MAYBE LISA MARIE PRESLEY DOESN’T REALLY HAVE A BAD BACK

Lisa Marie Presley’s concert tour was a hit in Japan and Australia, but she abruptly cancelled all her performances in the USA and Canada, claiming back pain. But insiders are saying the real reason she canceled is because she didn’t sell enough tickets. Maybe all those Scientologists who used to stand in line to see her are no longer fans. After all, Lisa, 46, seems to be disillusioned by the cult and is now living in the UK and estranged from Scientology.

GWEN STEFANI FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ROLLING STONES

Now THAT’S a show we wish we’d seen! The opening night of the Rolling Stones tour at Staples Center in LA featured a few celebrity surprises, including Gwen Stefani. The crowd was stunned when she suddenly burst onstage and started singing “Wild Horses” with Mick Jagger. Gwen dressed for the occasion and reportedly looked starstruck by her famous company – her husband and her band looked delighted from their seats and took pictures to share with fans later.

Business Card Concert Kanye West Tantrum

KANYE WEST HAD A CLOSE CALL WITH A BUSINESS CARD

Prickly Kanye West lost the holiday spirit when he had a tantrum onstage in Tacoma, Washington and threatened to kick out a whole section of the audience. Someone had the nerve to throw a business card onstage and Kanye stopped the music, picked it up, and said “Whose card is this? We risking our LIVES up here! You can’t go throwing shit that we gonna slip on!! I see it come from that direction – unless one person raises their hand and says ‘I did it’- all that section gotta go!”! The guilty party finally confessed and was tossed out and Kanye managed to finish the show without falling down.

LADY GAGA’S MOM IS ON THE TOUR BUS

Lady Gaga is in the habit of getting very run down on her tours by keeping late hours, partying too much, and not eating. So she invited her mom to come along on her current tour and keep an eye on her. Cynthia Germanotta, 56, is traveling on the tour bus with her daughter and she’s determined to keep her healthy. Hopefully, Gaga will be eating more and drinking less, and her only health threat will be her absurdly high platform shoes.

THE MONKEES MINUS ONE ARE BACK ON TOUR

Three fourths of The Monkees need the money so they’re going back on tour in the UK. Peter Tork, 69, Mickey Dolenz and Davy Jones, both 65, will be back on “The Last Train to Clarksville” this spring. Mike Nesmith left the group in 1971 and never looked back, in spite of fans protests. He had family money (his mother invented white-out and sold at the right time) and got into country rock and his own group. Every few years the other guys reunite for some concerts without him.

BRITNEY SPEARS CAN’T FIGURE OUT LADY GAGA’S FANS

Backstage sources at last weekend’s Lady Gaga concert in Los Angeles tell us that Britney Spears was prominently featured in the audience. Observers were surprised when Britney got up, looking very exasperated, and LEFT after the third song. Apparently Britney was disgusted that Gaga got such a strong reaction from her screaming fans every time she said a word or made a move. With minimal effort, Gaga whipped her audience into a frenzy. As she stomped out, Britney was heard muttering “I can’t believe she gets so much attention for doing NOTHING!”

RIHANNA SHOWS LADY GAGA HOW IT’S DONE

Lady Gaga’s elaborate concerts have raised the stakes for her competition and Rihanna is more than up for the challenge. Rihanna’s gigantic inflated shoulderpads eclipse Gaga’s huge shoulders as the singers compete for the most outrageous fashion. Rihanna took a month off from her “Last Girl on Earth” world tour and returned to the stage in Vancouver with new looks. Her stage design with moving platforms and elaborate props is described as staggering, and she has MORE costume changes than Gaga! So there.

NOWADAYS LOU REED WALKS HIS DOG ON THE WILD SIDE – AND MAKES MUSIC JUST FOR HER!

Lou Reed is pictured here having breakfast with one of the loves of his life, his rat terrier Lollabelle. Lou and his partner, performance artist Laurie Anderson, are so crazy about their terrier that they create music to tantalize her canine ears and now they’re putting on a concert just for dogs in Australia! Reed and Anderson are headlining the Vivid Live festival in June and all their music will be high pitched and designed for doggy pleasure. Dog owners are advised to bring their pets to the event on leashes only. Can you imagine dogs in the audience singing and howling along to the high notes? We love it!

THE JONAS BROTHERS PERFORM AT THE GROVE FOR A FAMOUS FAMILY IN THE CROWD

While driving by The Grove in Los Angeles Saturday we noticed a two block line of young girls snaking down the street outside. Today we learned the crowd was there to see a free concert by The Jonas Brothers. And EVERYBODY was there – including the Beckham family. Whether David and Victoria brought the boys there specifically for the concert, or they just happened to be shopping and caught up in the moment, the famous family seemed to enjoy the show without being noticed.
