ROSEANNE AND JOHN GOODMAN REUNITE IN A TRAILER PARK

The timing might be right for Roseanne to make a splash in the sitcom world again. Reality TV has proved that there’s a huge market for working class blue collar American humor and nobody does it better. Roseanne’s enlisted writers from her original Roseanne show (which was a hit from 1988 to 1997) for her new NBC pilot “Downwardly Mobile.” She plays the proprietor of a trailer park full of colorful characters and a new character was just added – Roseanne’s TV husband John Goodman. He’ll play an outspoken worker at the mobile home park. Hopefully this won’t interfere with her run for President….

  1. Sometimes we get the old Roseanne show on a certain channel, and the writers were killers with the dialogue. The woman who played her sister was dressed beautifully for every show. I can’t wait for this one.

  2. I loved her the old show from the 80’s and 90’s with John Goodman. Brilliant cast and writers! Hope they have similar luck this go around.

Yeah, I know she is a bit unbalanced but it worked last time for her.

  3. Agree with Blue! I catch the re-runs when I can and almost always laugh out loud (pre-lottery episodes, that is!)

I actually watched her reality show and she is such a “broad”! I will watch..Go Roseanne!

  4. What’s interesting also is the old modest house the characters on the Roseanne show lived in and were kind of ashamed of. It is now unattainable to most people in today’s America.

  5. No kidding! Hillary. Young people are getting houses in the worst neighborhoods now.

  6. Neither Roseanne or of her ilk will be welcomed on my Gay Charter Crusises.

  7. What ever happened to her new reality show she was going to be doing in Hawaii on her nut farm? Can’t remember the kind of nut tho. And I would think John Goodman is too big a movie star nowadays to want to be tied down to a TV show, let alone have the time to do one. But I love him in dramatic roles, and he can be downright scary as shit sometimes when he gets serious (as his charactor). I can’t wait to see the new one just coming out with him in it, nominated for Oscars I believe, and done in black and white and silent movie.

  8. Roseanne just isn’t funny anymore and John Goodman needs to keep making movies and avoid this mess.

  9. Reta, how are you?

She has a **Macadamia nut** farm in Hawaii. She was on some talk show (cant remember which) about 7 or 8 months ago. She showed all around her farm and even had the guy she is living with on there. This was so interesting. I was GREEN with jealousy, as I want to live in Hawaii. LOL 🙂

  10. the BEST thing that could happen to this country would be if she would BE ELECTED
    PRESIDENT
of course that will never happen so the USA will continue to descend into a 3rd world shit hole of illegal border jumpers, drug runners, unnecessary wars, and all the other bullshit men cause….. sad.

  11. Hey Reta,

Roseanne’s Nuts was on a last summer. It was entertaining, bizarre and amusing if you are a Roseanne fan. If you can’t take her in large doses, then it’s not for you.

She had some interesting guests on the show (Michael Fishman (played DJ Tanner on her old show, Phyllis Diller, Sandra Bernhard).

I’ve often wondered if she would have been a great comic and writer if she had not had the brain injury due to a car accident at 16.
I remember her family commenting on several occasions that it completely changed her personality and attitude. I wonder if it could have been responsible on some level for her array of false memories.

  12. Nice to hear from you Rita. Hope all is well.

She is unbalanced but most showbiz people are. That’s what makes their craft so individual.

    Go Rosie!

  13. I’m not sure people who actually live in mobile home parks will think that they’re colorful characters, but I can see where this is going, and I hope its hysterical.

I didn’t much care for “Roseanne’s Nuts” the couple of times I saw it.

  14. Rosie’s legendary sitcom was very well-written. Kind of ironic that her tiredness of “playing poor” led to the show’s demise—with the whole lottery BS.

So now she’s bellying up to the blue-collar bar, again? It’ll be interesting to see whether this show flies, but I’d bet even money that her time has passed. (Even Lucy couldn’t resurrect her old magic when she tried her last TV comeback.)

  15. Having said THAT :),
it would be cool if Leecy Goranson was cast in the new show, too. She was the original Darlene and she’s really struggled since she left ‘Roseanne,” but she’s very talented; she was excellent in “Boys Don’t Cry.”

  16. Roseanne was very controversial in my family when the show 1st came out. My family disliked the lack of ‘class’ but once I sat them down and had them watch the show they really liked it! It made families talk about issues they may never talk about on their own.

Roseanne’s reality show was ‘in you face’ with her medical mary jane and advocacy for mental health but most of what she talked about needs to be talked about!

I’ll totally watch Roseanne and John if they re unite! As an artist with mental illness I’ll even volunteer to write for free 😀

  17. I loved John in “The Big Lebowski”. Brilliant Flick!

  18. Love the Glasses and love the fact that she is excited but won’t it seem weird to view this show with GoodMan in it…Won’t people get confused and think of them both as husband and wife.

  19. It is going to be strange seeing them both together again…We are so used to seeing them one way but together again! Good Luck and wish you both well but this seems really weird and freaky strange..Only time will tell!

  20. I think Roseanne could do great on her own as a Guest on other shows and… I kind of wish she would go on show like C.S.I. or Bones and other shows to get her feet wet again…I Really like her as an actress but wish she would do something different?

  21. I think everyone in the world will get confused if the old cast creates a new show..What worked in the pass worked well and worked wonders but for some reason everyone will want the whole cast to come back together and that could cause the show freak people out…Roseanne you would be so good at being a Guest on other shows…And playing something other then yourself…Which is funny as Heck!

  22. I think the public is going to be burned out on the show all together but it would work if it was a movie and it was Rated R and allow some raw-ness to come to the picture….I really think branding this show and making it a movie would really kick ass and really bring some much needed attention to the old stuff even more but lets turn it to a movie and add in some real hard core name calling and some nude-ness and some action? Turn it to a movie instead and that is something people will line up to see and that is rawness to the core.
