LA VIE EN ROSE: DON'T MISS IT
We were lucky to have an early peek at one of the best movies of the year last night and we don’t want you to miss it. It’s La Vie En Rose – a gorgeous European epic about the life of Edith Piaf, and it won’t be released here until June 8, so mark your calendars in advance. The story is amazing – it begins in the 1920’s in the streets of Paris. Piaf had a tawdry upbringing in a whorehouse and she grew up singing on streetcorners. Eventually this tiny common girl with a powerful voice became the toast of her country. Her romance with a boxer is heartwrenching and Marion Cotillard as Piaf is perfect. The story is beautifully photographed in exquisite detail (you’ll love the fashion – especially the little French suits) and absolutely fascinating – so engrossing, you don’t even mind the subtitles.
JESSICA SIMPSON: BACKSTAGE TEMPTATION

Jessica Simpson walked out of a Mexican restaurant last night in this tight top and we realize our earlier comment about her looking “voluptuous” was on the money. She looks pretty but definitely bigger than she was before she hooked up with John Mayer on his tour. We imagine that during those weeks on the road she succumbed to backstage temptation and roadside gluttony. Sometimes love does that to you. Now that she’s back home, she’ll make up for it in the gym.
MARILYN MANSON; THE EVIL TWIN?
Marilyn Manson and his girl-toy Evan Rachel Wood (sporting Lolita heart shaped glasses) spent an afternoon at UK’s horror theme park London Dungeons. The park features rides based on executions and historical murders plus live actors recreating history’s most gruesome events – plagues etc. Manson, who has described the almost 20 years younger Wood as his “twin” was especially fond of the Boat Ride to Hell.
Meanwhile Manson’s exwife (is it final yet?) Dita Von Teese is in Las Vegas wowing the audience at the MGM Grand in the Crazy Horse Paris show. Here she reveals that she is definitely NOT Manson’s twin.

JESSICA SIMPSON AND JOHN MAYER: MEANT TO BE?

Jessica Simpson has a look of contentment she hasn’t had since her marriage ended. She was in a clothing store recently when a John Mayer song started playing. She stopped in her tracks and almost swooned. “I can’t believe this- I think we’re really meant to be – it’s fate.” She made her feelings about Mayer very clear to her friend and assorted salespeople. The other night at Winston’s she looked pretty and more voluptuous than usual, but she was clearly wishing John was with her.

Here’s some more Hollywood history worth a second look. This is a photo of Ryan O’Neal circa 1973 at a Hollywood party – very relaxed and not on guard. That’s Tatum on the right (She and her dad were very close in those days, in fact it’s rumored that she used to climb into bed with her dad and his girlfriends.) and LOOK who’s sitting between them! That’s teenage Melanie Griffith! Not long after she split with Don Johnson, baby-faced Melanie started dating Ryan. She was barely legal and this picture really tells a story.
BRITNEY SPEARS: EXCUSE ME, YOU'RE FIRED!
We’re relieved to hear that Britney Spears FINALLY gathered the courage to fire her manager Larry Rudolph. While she was in rehab she was stewing over how to get rid of him gracefully. Brit had changed handlers earlier his year and brought back her former manager Larry. THAT’S when everything started to go wrong. Larry, who barely knew Kevin Federline, pushed Britney to divorce him. He assumed Kevin was the root of all her problems. Britney was upset and vulnerable and she did as she was told, even though she still loved Kevin. Britney was so distraught over the bustup that she started abusing substances. Larry urged Britney to pal around with Paris Hilton – another horrible mistake. Britney had time to think it all over in rehab and she realized Rudolph had nearly ruined her life with his bad advice. Larry saw it coming – we hear he put his house on the market a few weeks ago.
STEPHEN DORFF: BAD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES
Diminutive actor Stephen Dorff has a history of obnoxious, erratic behavior in nightclubs and Xenii is no exception. (Remember when he and Jeremy Piven exchanged insults at a NY club- Jeremy called Dorff a “has-been” and Dorff snarled that at least he was a “movie actor and not on cable TV!”) Last Saturday he was SO liquored up he was swaying back and forth and he splashed his drink on a girl’s chest. He “apologized” with an off-color comment and the girl’s outraged boyfriend leaped at him. The boyfriend grabbed Dorff and hurled him across the bar which sent dozens of pricey bottles of liquor flying in all directions. There was broken glass and alcohol everywhere but Incredibly, the soused “movie” actor was unhurt – no blood was shed. He was propped up in a corner where he slept or was passed out for the rest of the evening.

This A-list actress would have you believe she’s a modern woman, but she’s old fashioned in one way: she doesn’t want anyone to know she was a battered wife. She THOUGHT she was madly in love with her first husband but not long after they wed, she started cheating. He was suspicious and accused her and they had nasty fights. She hid her bruises from her family and friends. Finally he got PROOF of her indiscretion and the marriage imploded with one last pummeling. She feels guilty because she was a cheater and embarrassed because she endured the beatings, so she’ll never talk about it.
