GAINING WEIGHT IS “NOT THAT DIFFICULT” FOR RUSSELL CROWE

Every time we see a photo of Russell Crowe plumped up to play Roger Ailes in Showtime’s The Loudest Voice, we wonder how much is padding and how much is actual weight gain. Judging by his neck, Russell appears to have loaded on as much weight as he did for Body of Lies (63 lbs) – he says gaining is easy – he just stops being active and eats whatever he wants. But LOSING all those pounds must be painful! Aren’t there any already hefty actors who would love to play these roles? We’re guessing they aren’t famous “enough.” Russell says he was in the makeup chair for five hours for this transformation, but we suspect most of that was for his character’s receding hairline…

RACHEL BROSNAHAN KNOWS A DOUBLE STANDARD WHEN SHE SEES ONE

Rachel Brosnahan (AKA Mrs Maisel) and her husband, Jason Ralph (Magician) sat courtside at the last NY Knicks game where they enjoyed the cheerleaders and dodged a stray basketball. They rarely discuss their marriage – Rachel observed “We’re both on successful series, but on the red carpet Jason almost NEVER gets asked about his relationship, but I ALWAYS do- that’s a double standard! – so we change the subject to our work.

THREE DOG NIGHT: THAT AIN’T THE WAY TO HAVE FUN

It’s a miracle that Chuck Negron (of Three Dog Night) is still touring and performing, considering his drug and health history. We credit him with changing OUR life one night back in the 70’s. We were with a friend at a Playboy party and the band invited us to an after-party in Laurel Canyon. Sounded like fun, since we knew the guys in the band, we hopped in the back seat of their car. It was raining that night and as the car careened around the steep hillside, we suddenly got the feeling we were about to die. The radio blared, the driver was maniacally laughing and speeding and skidding around corners SO CLOSE to cliffs. We begged to be let out of the car but they just laughed, and we covered our eyes and cried. Miraculously, we made it to the party alive and vowed NEVER let that happen again by taking a ride from a boozed up or drugged up driver. We took a cab home, but never repeated that mistake – so thanks, Chuck.

It turns out that Joseph Baena, 21, is living a charmed life. His father is Arnold Schwarzenegger and his mother was, of course, the family housekeeper when Arnold was married to Maria Shriver. His birth broke up the Schwarzenegger-Shriver marriage, but Arnold and Maria eventually became friendly again. Arnold sent Joseph to college at Pepperdine University to get a business degree (he also plays rugby for the college team.) Joseph is the only son interested in bodybuilding and Arnold is delighted, and spends hours coaching him in the gym. Joseph plans to compete in his first bodybuilding competition soon.

Celine Dion spent a week in Paris filming L’Oreal ads and every day was a fashion show when she walked out of her hotel. Paparazzi waited for her daily, and to say the least, some of her outfits were more successful than others. This yellow plastic dress and wool jacket combo is one of the better examples. Celine shrugged off the critics : “You can’t please everyone. I now have the opportunity to wear haute couture and the things make me feel beautiful and strong.” Meanwhile her fans became alarmed because they think she is losing too much weight.

VAL KILMER IS BACK IN ACTION

Here’s an unexpected combo – Italian screen legend Gina Lollobrigida and our own Val Kilmer. They both happened to be at a party celebrating filming in Italy and it’s nice to see Val socializing again. For the past few years he’s been battling throat cancer and he went through some grueling treatment. It left him with a raspy voice, but he seems eager to work. Val is currently cast in a couple of movies – including Top Gun: Maverick – which will reunite him with Tom Cruise.

LUNA LEGEND HAS A MIND OF HER OWN

Luna Legend, 2, seen here with her mom Chrissy Teigen, is gradually learning what it’s like to have famous parents. Chrissy took Luna shopping to a fancy children’s store in Beverly Hills called English Rabbit. They carry European designer labels for kids like Gucci and Stella McCartney. Luna loves shopping and she got a balloon, but she’s still annoyed with intrusive paparazzi and makes faces at them.
