NEIL SEDAKA: A MUSIC VIDEO PIONEER

Here’s someone you haven’t seen in awhile – it’s Neil “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” Sedaka. He was most successful in the early 60’s and 70’s with his own songs, but wrote plenty of hits for other singers – like Connie Francis. (He wrote her signature song “Where the Boys Are”) He was one of the first to produce music videos for Scopitones. Those were jukeboxes that featured video screens. We happened to own one in the 70’s and watched “Calendar Girl” over and over, featuring girls in bouffant hair and big bikinis. Above, the 75 year old is performing at Albert Hall in London – the English still appreciate America’s early rockers.

  1. jeez janet you used the word “WAS” thought I was going to scroll down to see niel sadaka dead

    be more careful next time..

  2. Sedaka is one of the greats for his era and genre, to be sure; but, today I’m just sad that Jack Bruce has died. An amazing talent on bass and that great voice. My rocker son is in mourning! He was always hoping to see Cream play one last reunion.

  3. “Don’t take your love
    away from me…..”

    Amazing writer and composer!
