Tom Hanks

Acting Quickly

In 2002 screening of “White Oleander” at a Westwood theater, a woman cried out in the dark audience “Help me! I need help!”  There were only 25 or 30 people in the small theater and several men ran to her aid. The first on the scene was Tom Hanks who ascertained that the woman felt faint and had collapsed. After he made sure paramedics were on their way, he stayed and kept the woman calm until she was taken away on a stretcher. Tom returned to his seat to explain everything to his waiting wife Rita. The theater manager apologized for the interruption and before he started the movie again he handed everyone free movie passes – including the Hanks’.

TICKET BUYER BEWARE

If you love religious ceremony and ancient ideologies maybe “The Da Vinci Code” is up your alley, but if you have a logical nature, you’re in for what seems like three hours of water torture. Two redeeming features: Watching Tom Hanks struggle to keep a straight face through all that melodramatic nonsense, and checking out Tom’s hair we hear he got hair transplants before this movie…
