Halle Berry arrived alone at Craig’s for dinner and she has a serious look on her face. Is she meeting her lawyer inside? Is that big bag full of legal papers? Rumor has it she and Olivier Martinez are on the verge of divorce and could file any time now. Insiders say Halle can’t tolerate Olivier’s fiery temper – coincidentally or not, that has been the reason for nearly ALL of her splits.

Uh-oh. The word is out – everyone in Britney Spears’ camp is on high alert scrambling to find a new boyfriend for her. Britney’s not happy when she’s alone and her father wants to make sure that her boyfriends are not freeloaders or fame-seekers. Earlier in her career (after Justin Timberlake) she made some spectacularly bad choices. And she does tend to jump into relationships quickly. It must be confusing for her sons. She eliminated all Instagram photos of her latest boyfriend of eight months, Charlie Ebersol, and they haven’t been seen together since May. Britney’s 33 now and good guys just get scarcer and scarcer…

According to US Weekly, Charlize Theron broke off her engagement to Sean Penn after two years of togetherness. Recently they had both opened up and started saying sweet things about each other in interviews. We figured it would only be a matter of time before Sean’s bad temper would do him in. His two ex-wives were charmed by him at first, but suffered through his bitter macho moods, and we feared Charlize would endure the same fate. But our girl wised up just in time! Charlize may be feeling sad now, but in the long run she and her little boy are better off without Sean.

It’s kind of sad to hear that Tim Burton, 56, and Helena Bonham-Carter, 48, are no longer a couple, but it’s an INCREDIBLY easy break-up for them. They never MARRIED, and Tim doesn’t have to pack up and move out because he never lived with Helena and their two kids, Billy, 11, and Nell, 7. Tim lived in the house next door, which was connected, but they both slept in their own houses. (Now THERE’S a man who doesn’t want to COMMIT.) Nobody really knows exactly WHEN they split because they continue to go on family outings with the kids. The only hint arose when Tim was photographed kissing a blonde woman last year, and Helena mentioned that she might never do another movie with Tim. Too bad – they seem like such a good eccentric match.

Wow. It’s looking like Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon really ARE splitting up, although we still hope they’ll change their minds. We can’t help remembering back when they first got married and Mariah encouraged Nick to develop his own career so people wouldn’t call him a “kept man.” Nick got busy and made a success of himself! His job on “America’s Got Talent” opened many doors for him and he’s been raking in the bucks. He’s also been LOOKING better than ever. Meanwhile, Mariah’s not doing so well – her last album flopped. We’re betting that Mariah regrets pushing Nick to succeed on his own. He’s not there when she snaps her fingers any more. He used to be the guy she held onto when she was wobbling in her stiletto heels – now she’s holding onto a bodyguard… (Above, in happier days)

Just weeks ago, Pam Anderson and Rick Salomon were teetering on the brink of divorce, but he has been intent on wooing her back. Now they’re together having a romantic vacation in Sardinia, hoping to rekindle their spark and save the marriage. It looks like neither really wants a divorce, they just want to improve the marriage. Rick is taking Pam shopping and she already looks happier.

Melanie Griffith walked into an LA skin care salon with her “Antonio”heart tattoo fully exposed on her right arm and she walked out of the place with a big bandage where the tattoo was. (Above) Presumably, it is in the process of being removed – it takes a number of visits. Actually Melanie looks a lot better without it. Neither tattoos OR relationships are permanent. Now Melanie is officially back in circulation.

We are not the LEAST bit surprised to hear that Sofia Vergara and her fiancée Nick Loeb, who always has a pocketful of Onion Crunch, split up after four years together. IT’S THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO HER. Sure, Nick is a playboy from a wealthy family, but he has some unpleasant predilections. A few years ago two prostitutes told The National Enquirer about his “sex addiction.“ When Sofia wasn’t around, Nick was fond of rounding up lots of drugs, sex toys, lingerie, and call girls, and having orgies in hotel suites! He told one prostitute that Sofia wasn’t into the same things that he was, and he didn’t want her to find out. She DID read the Enquirer and they split for awhile, but she eventually forgave him and they got back together. Sofia Vergara is one of the best catches in Hollywood – she’s not only beautiful and sexy and fun, but she’s the highest paid woman on TV. She doesn’t NEED a jerk like this!

On paper, Gwyneth Paltrow seems like the perfect wife- she’s beautiful and earns a lot of money acting, but still has time to cook and bake and take care of her kids. And maintain a lifestyle website! So what happened? Chris Martin has been off on his own for the past year, busy with music and concerts while Gwyneth filmed movies. (She recently finished Mortdecai with Johnny Depp) The separation was referenced when Gwyneth announced on her site Goop that after 14 years, she and Chris were making a “conscious uncoupling” after extensive consideration. They have two children, Apple, 10, and Moses, 8. Gwyneth and Chris DID have their differences – we remember one day Chris was out with the kids alone and he made a point of treating them to chips and sweets that their mother frowned upon.

Turns out the apple DOESN’T fall far from the tree. We were around back in the days when “Growing Pains” dad Alan Thicke was considered a classic sleazy Hollywood womanizer. He cheated on the women he married and lusted after numerous beauty pageant girls. He was only average looking, but he had great hair, smooth talk, and fame, and he used it all to get what he wanted. We remember stories about his son coming across gorgeous women in various states of undress at his dad’s house. Robin Thicke grew up admiring his father’s triumphs. But Robin, 36, had the same girlfriend, Paula Patton, for 12 years before he married her in 2005. Was he rebelling against his father’s tumultuous love life? We wondered – did he not inherit the cheating gene? Looks like the gene showed up late. It appears Robin has been too loose with his affections and attentions and Paula wants out. That’s why she called off their marriage.
