How many A-list celebrities do YOU know who would get down on their knees to fit shoes on a customer in a New York shoe store? Sex & the City star Sarah Jessica Parker continues to amaze us as she waits on customers in her SJP shoe store on W 54th Street. Coincidentally (or not) this SJP store is located in the former location of the Manolo Blahnik shoe store that Carrie Bradshaw frequently visited and gushed about on the show. (Sarah fondly remembers filming there – Carrie wore Blahnik shoes to her wedding) Certainly business must have picked up since Sarah started pitching in to work there…

SARAH JESSICA PARKER ESCAPES THE CITY

Sarah Jessica Parker took some time off from working at her SJP shoe store to spend Labor Day weekend on the beach in the Hamptons. She and Matthew Broderick look like any other married couple on the sand (are those people on that busy beach really six feet apart?) Their daughters were frolicking in the water nearby. The Sex & the City star was able to swim, relax, and read, pretty much unnoticed.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER: “CAN I TRY THIS IN A SIZE 9?”

A few weeks ago we told you Sarah Jessica Parker made a surprise appearance at her SJP shoe store in Manhattan and she worked as a salesperson. Shoppers loved it and sales went through the roof. Last weekend, the E! channel had one of their Sex & the City three day marathons featuring every episode from the six seasons of the beloved series.(It’s still fabulous!) Coincidentally or not, Sarah is BACK in the busy store waiting on customers with the rest of the staff this week. Sarah was just one of the girls when she and the other salesclerks went out for a taco lunch – she was happily masked and unrecognized.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER TO THE RESCUE

Surely it was a jolt when New York shoppers walked into the SJP shoe store on 54th St this week and were greeted by Sarah Jessica Parker herself! This SJP flagship store had the bad luck to open March 2 – right before the pandemic took over the world. After months of hibernation, the store has reopened with – no surprise- a summer sale. When word got out that Sarah herself was helping customers – the store filled up with fans and shoppers and social distancing became difficult. But everyone kept their masks on and Sarah was happy to see the store making sales. The shop features a pair of mismatched heels- one pink and one yellow satin, similar to a pair that Carrie Bradshaw wore in Sex & the City.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER : SCHOOLING HER DAUGHTERS IN THE FASHION BIZ?

Sex & the City fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker is in the habit of keeping a close eye on all her SJP shoes stores in Manhattan by visiting them regularly. She has a total of 8 stores around the world, including two in Abu Dhabi and one in Dubai. And of course her shoe collection is sold in numerous shops everywhere. Her twin daughters Marion and Tabitha are now 11- the age where fashion starts to become important. Sarah is teaching them a little about her business just in case they aspire to follow in her footsteps. Sarah is pictured here at her South Street store with one masked twin.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER AND MATTHEW BRODERICK: THE SHOW MUST GO ON

Sarah Jessica Parker posted this sweet vintage photo for her 23rd anniversary with Matthew Broderick– she captioned it “We’ve come a long way baby.” Indeed they have. Back in 1996, before they were married, they costarred on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Jessica and Matthew were set to costar on Broadway for the SECOND time this month in Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite. (They play three different couples in the 1960’s.) Of course, the April 13 opening was crushed by coronavirus, and now the play has been pushed back to Spring 2021. But the marriage continues…

How many celebrities would sit on their pumpkin decorated Manhattan doorstep and personally hand out candy to all the trick or treating kids? Sarah Jessica Parker took delight in greeting all the kids in costumes and meeting some of their parents in her neighborhood. Her doorstep attracted big crowds and she appeared to enjoy the entire experience.

Feud! Kim Cattrall Sarah Jessica Parker Sex & The City

THE SARAH JESSICA PARKER/KIM CATTRALL FEUD IS ALL ABOUT MONEY

Okay, let’s clarify this whole Sarah Jessica Parker –Kim Cattrall feud- it’s about MONEY. Jason Lewis played Samantha’s boyfriend on the series and he admitted HE’s siding with SJP. He raves about how he adored and appreciated Sarah’s kindness on the show but held back at saying ANYTHING nice about Kim Cattrall. WE have never met anyone who didn’t love Sarah and our personal experience with her has always been delightful. Here’s what destroyed Sarah and Kim’s friendship: Sarah was the star of the series and producer and undoubtedly paid more, but Kim’s character really caught on – especially with gay men who identified with her playful promiscuity and sexual openness. Kim KNEW her character was popular – she had tons of fans – and expected more money. Apparently she was never paid what she thought she was worth and resentment grew. When Kim turned down the third Sex & the City movie despite the good script, she knew she was denying her costars and crew money and jobs they might need. Not nice. We wish they’d recast Samantha.

Kim Cattrall Sarah Jessica Parker Sex & The City

WILL THE REAL KIM CATTRALL PLEASE STAND UP

Kim Cattrall’s bold character Samantha on Sex & the City was probably the most popular of the four leading women – especially among gays. Maybe that’s why she was resentful toward Sarah Jessica Parker because her Carrie was officially the STAR of the popular show. Personally, we would love to have followed these women into their 50’s and 60’s in a third movie. Everyone loved the script- so why did Kim lead everyone on and then back out at the last minute? Why wouldn’t she go through with the movie to please her costars and pocket the money? How many offers does she GET? Kim called HER COSTARS “toxic.” In reality, Kim was always the toxic one – Sarah happens to be a genuinely decent and kind person. Kim’s decision means a lot of people won’t be working and fans will be disappointed. Actually, we’d be happy to see the movie made without Kim.
