Diane Keaton would be green with envy if she saw Rihanna in this gigantic red cowboy belt! Diane almost always wears a huge belt of her own, but it’s less extreme. You certainly cannot accuse Rihanna of taking herself too seriously or not having a sense of humor! How many young women do you know who would be bold enough to wear this just for fun? Gotta love her…

Here’s something you don’t see very often – Rihanna waiting ALONE for a train at a Brooklyn station. (Rihanna alone ANYWHERE is hard to imagine!) Actually the entire female cast of Oceans Eight filmed on the subway today, but Rihanna’s character looks like she really belongs there. We’re told Rihanna wears clothes from her own Fenty X Puma collection when she reports for filming every day, but her film wardrobe is less festive. We don’t know how her clothes are selling, but her shoe collection is very cool and sold out almost everywhere.

Without fanfare, Rihanna, 28, is gradually oozing her way into the acting business. She’s taking her time and learning along the way. She was cast to play the iconic Janet Leigh role on the final season of Bates Motel. And she’s currently filming Oceans 8 where she’s getting acting tips from the likes of Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. In the script, eight women scheme to pull off a major New York robbery somehow connected to the Met Gala – yes, that means fashion galore! Rihanna’s character is a Caribbean tech wizard. With her success in music, fashion, etc, Rihanna is sort of THE ANTI-KANYE. She does is ALL quietly, without Kanye’s Trump-style bragging, posturing, and tirades. Last year she earned 75 million, leaving Kanye WAY in the dust….

We never paid much attention to George Clooney’s Oceans Eleven series of movies – just the same old stuff – self-indulgent and unoriginal. Now the same people are filming Oceans 8 with an all-female cast and we’re puzzled. It’s kinda sad that women have to remake roles written for men because there are so few original parts for women. Of course it’s better than NOTHING – but don’t blame the women if the worn-out casino heist concept seems tired. The cast is stellar- Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and Asian American rapper Awkwafina (Nora Lum.) That’s a powerful and varied group. Hopefully, the script was written by women. Cate Blanchett started filming scenes in New York and she looks formidable in her green velvet suit. The movie isn’t coming out until 2018, however.

When Rihanna arrived at the recording studio in New York , she saw the paparazzi waiting and immediately took off her coat so her Hillary Clinton t-shirt was clearly visible. Since her photos are bound to circulate EVERYWHERE, Rihanna’s promotion of Hillary is probably almost as good as a billboard on 42nd Street. We have yet to see a celebrity wearing a Donald Trump shirt.

Is it just another hook-up or a secret romance? Seems like Drake and Rihanna have been off and on for YEARS, but it may be heating up. They’re both in London and spending a lot of late hours together – but you can’t catch them in the same photo. They arrive at and leave clubs ten minutes apart, so it’s all undercover. Why? They’re both single! Looks like SOMEBODY doesn’t want the world to know… But we like them as a couple.

It so happens that Rihanna is wearing boots here of her own design – she styled a Rihanna mini-collection for Manolo Blahnik and these were prominently featured. They’re tight denim attached to an embellished garter belt and can be worn with or without pants. When the collection launched in May, the website crashed because so many fans couldn’t wait. They were probably disappointed to find out that the boots (chaps?) are priced at $4000. Also the wearer must have HELP to get the boots on! Yes, they’re the height of impracticality, but, why not?

In a trashy Kardashian world, it’s nice to see that SOMEBODY isn’t afraid of fashion with a sense of humor. Rihanna is fearless where other celebrities are cautious. She’s a great fashion icon for young girls to aspire to. She’s not aggressively sexy or obvious and usually looks comfortable in her choices. Somehow she manages to look like she doesn’t spend an inordinate amount of time putting herself together. She loves the idea of OVERSIZED jackets and wore this striped denim number with a cropped sweater, velvet pants and two-tone shoes to Tape nightclub in London..

Rihanna arrived at Nobu in New York for dinner with friends and she was dressed like THIS. What a pleasant surprise. It’s an unusual combination even for a creative fashion addict. Thick glasses, hair in an updo, high waisted pin stripe draped trousers with a red and white check coat – and sneakers! This is what makes Rihanna interesting- she isn’t stuck in a fashion rut.
