DON’T ASK EDDIE REDMAYNE TO MODEL

We all know that designers give celebrities expensive dresses and suits to flaunt on red carpets and at big PR events in hopes that it will stimulate interest in their fashions and increase sales. Celebrities often mention their designers names whether the press ask about it or not. Designers might think twice before dressing actor Eddie Redmayne because his red carpet “flaunting” expertise is minimal at best. He’s wearing a perfectly nice but unremarkable blue suit at the Motion Picture Museum gala, but he looks excruciatingly uncomfortable posing in it. Can’t figure out what to do with his hands OR his feet. (Or his FACE!) Posing provocatively is NOT his thing…

PETE DAVIDSON ON THE RED CARPET BEFORE & AFTER KIM KARDASHIAN

Yes, Pete Davidson bent over backwards to live up to then-girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s fashion standards- especially when they went to the Met Gala. He actually put on a suit and tie- although it was loose, and we can catch a glimpse of his stomach tattoo peeking out. He was WAY more comfortable in sweats promoting his new film with Kaley Cuoco called Meet Cute.

PETE DAVIDSON IS NOW A PLUS-ONE

Tonight was a big deal because it was the first time Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson walked a red carpet together. You KNOW what that means. They arrived holding hands to the premier of the family’s Hulu series The Kardashians in Los Angeles. Pete’s participation in the show remains to be seen. Aside from all that, can you BELIEVE the volume of Kim’s backside? Does it even fit into an ordinary chair? This is indeed a strange and unexpected couple…

WHY ZENDAYA IS THE NEW “IT GIRL”

She’s not afraid of wearing a little hardware- maybe that’s one of the reasons that Zendaya, 25, is so hot in the fashion world. (Being 5’10” helps too) Certainly the metal back of her dress couldn’t be very comfortable sitting down or outside on a cold night. But with the help of her brilliant stylist, Law Roach, she has become undisputed Queen of the Red Carpet. That, and the fact that she recently became the youngest recipient of the Fashion Icon award (given by the Council of Fashion Designers of America) means the she has to be READY every time she steps out of a car! This former Disney star (she can currently be seen in Dune and HBO’s Euphoria) has come a long way…

GEORGINA CHAPMAN GOT MARCHESA BACK ON THE RED CARPET

Still recovering from her ex-husband Harvey Weinstein’s horrific sexual abuse scandal, (87 women accused him- he’s serving 23 years in prison) Georgina Chapman has been laying low and her fashion line Marchesa has been suffering. Chapman’s business partner quit in 2019 and the label, which was often seen on red carpets, (because Weinstein FORCED actresses to wear it) is now mostly sold to bridesmaids. Chapman claimed to know NOTHING about her husband’s crimes, but few people believe her. She wants to bring her Marchesa label back to life but hasn’t had any luck until she started dating Oscar winner Adrian Brody. HE gets invited to the best events so SHE can show off her latest designs. A match made in….heaven?

WHO BUYS RED CARPET GOWNS, ANYWAY?

Just as we predicted, haute couture is on its last legs as Street Fashion barges to the front, and it’s ABOUT TIME! London Fashion Week had the usual runway shows, but they made a big deal out of Streetstyle Fashion (logically shown on the streets.) Designers like Vivienne Westwood, Roland Mouret, and Burberry presented their casual collections along with street smart up-and-coming designers. With Prada, Gucci, etc making so much money on distressed jeans, athletic wear, and sneakers – are red carpet gowns the dinosaurs of the fashion business?

ANNE HATHAWAY KNOWS HOW TO MAXIMIZE POTENTIAL

The Hollywood Reporter did a staggering breakdown on what A-list celebrities are PAID for wearing certain items on the red carpet at events like The Golden Globes. A young attractive actress (especially a nominee) could not only get a free designer gown, but a cash payment of at least $50,000, up to $200,000, if she appears on a best dressed list! If she shows off a designer handbag on the red carpet, that’s another $10,000 to $15,000. Shoe designers pay up to $10,000 for an actress to make her shoes visible. Anne Hathaway knows how to make the best of a red carpet – she’s showing dress, shoes, handbag, AND earrings ($125,000)- that’s a potentially NICE payout!

WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

THERE’s plenty to LIKE about this moment on The Golden Globes telecast. First of all, the President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association- Meher Tatna- was introduced, and – hooray- she’s a WOMAN. Meher announced that the HFPA was donating two million dollars in grants to support investigative journalism- good news. What was WRONG was Meher’s bright red outfit. Apparently she didn’t support the women of the Time’s Up movement, who wore black on the red carpet. When questioned later, unconcerned Meher insisted “in her country” you didn’t wear black to a celebration and her mother expected her to wear color. Lame excuse. There are many online photos of Meher at other festive social events WEARING BLACK. Naturally her red outfit made her stand out – it appeared she wanted attention – like several wannabe starlets at the event who pulled the same trick.

HONEY BOO BOO HAS A RED CARPET MOMENT

Who knew that they had red carpet events in Marietta, Georgia? Honey Boo Boo and her family were given the red carpet treatment at the grand opening of a local restaurant called Benzino’s Crab Trap. Despite their show being cancelled, they are still the most famous celebrities in town and caused quite a stir. Sugar Bear was heard telling someone he’s looking for a job as a truck driver. After the photo op, they all dug into plates full of crab legs.

ZSA ZSA’S PRINCE FREDERIC CONSIDERS HIMSELF A RED CARPET CELEBRITY

Photos: Glen Lipton
We just learned that we missed some FUN on the red carpet at the Night of 100 Stars Oscar event at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband, who calls himself Prince Frederic von Anhalt, bought himself a $1000 ticket to the event and decided to join the celebrities and enter on the red carpet. Guess he didn’t realize the Publicity Coordinator in charge of the event, Edward Lozzi, happens to be Francesca Hilton’s publicist and NO Fan of his! Frederic managed to smile for a camera (wearing what’s rumored to be borrowed jewelry) before Lozzi spotted him and ordered security to remove him from the carpet. ”We don’t consider him a star – OR a celebrity!” The irked Prince was forced to enter the party with the other non-celebrities who bought tickets.
