TWO KIDS LATER, RIHANNA IS BACK IN BUSINESS

It’s only been eight years, but Rihanna is secretly back in the recording studio working on her next album. Years ago Rihanna took a $10 million advance from Live Nation and part of the deal was that she was supposed to release a new album a few years back. Her unexpected second pregnancy changed those plans, but now she’s spending most of her time in New York at a studio in Brooklyn recording her latest album. My source explains that Rihanna didn’t want to pay back the $10 million plus interest so she forced herself to get into the studio. She’s hoping to keep the project top-secret until it’s complete, which is why she’s been seen around New York wearing a T-shirt that says I’M RETIRED.

MARIAH CAREY IS THANKING HER LUCKY STARS THAT AMERICAN IDOL CAME ALONG

#mariahcarey #janetcharlton

It turns out Mariah Carey signed on the dotted line for American Idol JUST IN TIME. It’s been three years since her last unsuccessful album and she hoped her new comeback single “Triumphant” would be just that. Since she released it on iTunes to not-so-hot reviews, it moved from 42 to 40. But radio stations continue to ignore it, so it’s not promising. Suddenly that 12 million dollar AI contract seems like an even better deal because her exposure on the show might help sell the song. Above, she’s swimming with “dem babies.”

REAL HOUSWIVES SONGS AREN’T BURNING UP THE CHARTS

Ever since Atlanta “Real Housewives” participant Kim Zolciak recorded “Tardy for the Party,” other Housewives in the franchise have been scrambling to top her digital song sales of 101,000 downloads. Washington’s Michaele Salahi, despite her Journey connections, only had 122 downloads of her song “Bump It.” (Although that may improve with her love scandal) New Jersey Housewife Melissa Gorga has her own recording studio in her home, but her song “On Display” has so far had 8000 downloads. (Sister-in-law Teresa must be thrilled.)
