SANTINO RICE SHOPS LIKE A PRO

asantinocut.jpgYou see the most interesting people at Barneys in Beverly Hills on the first day of final markdowns. Santino Rice, one of our all time favorite losers on Project Runway, searched the men’s designer department for bargains. The lanky reality star was wearing white super-skinny jeans, a white blazer, white leather shoes, and a white hat over a black and white bandanna. He was particularly interested in the Alexander McQueen sale items and rummaged the rack from end to end.

PROJECT RUNWAY'S MALAN BRETON IS A WINNER!

malancut_2007_08_320x240.jpgDon’t know about you, but we were devastated when our favorite contestant Malan Breton was eliminated on Project Runway season 3. Remember- he was the foppish fellow with the unusual accent (Hong Kong?) and the devilish laugh. We had met him for the first time years before the show, when he was a young boy working in the women’s designer department in Barneys New York. He already dressed like a 1930’s actor. And he had that unique, vaguely foreign personality and sense of fun – not to mention an appreciation of our then – favorite designer Martin Margiela. Happily, the Runway detour propelled him into the bigtime. He has had two showings at NY’s Fashion Week -Spring and Fall 2007. He also has his own store in New York and is opening another in Shanghai next year. So getting kicked off Project Runway might have been the best thing that ever happened to him!

PROJECT RUNWAY'S ANDRE AND THE TRUTH ABOUT TIM GUNN

We love the fact that Project Runway’s Andre Gonzalo has a delightfully big mouth. Remember him? He was the guy two seasons ago with the shaved head and a tendancy to disappear, causing Tim Gunn to repeat “Where’s Andre?” Anyway, we ran into Andre at the World of Wonder Christmas party and we mentioned the rumor that Tim Gunn might not be returning to the show. Supposedly the show schedule might conflict with Tim’s work as head of the fashion design department at Parsons. Andre scoffed at the notion and called it a publicity stunt. He said the show films at Parsons when school is NOT in session. So how could it conflict with Tim’s job? He’s confident the show will NOT have to go on without Tim.
