Rihanna braved a New York snowstorm Sunday night to meet her beau ASAP Rocky for dinner. We couldn’t help but notice her footwear- a cross between cowboy boots and sneakers. The first designer to bravely merge cowboys and sports was Tony Lama back in 1984 and they were described as surprisingly comfortable. The late Virgil Abloh designed Rihanna’s cowboy sneakers this year for Louis Vuitton – in fact it was one of his last creations. That means these boots are probably collectors items…

Louis Vuitton and Off-White designer Virgil Abloh’s tragic death at 41 has probably affected Kanye West more than anyone else because he was the creative brain that inspired Kanye. Virgil was a genius who worked behind the scenes with Kanye on his biggest projects, but he never bragged about it. Kanye did all the bragging – calling HIMSELF the “greatest human artist of all time” and declaring that HE should have gotten the job at Louis Vuitton, NOT Virgil. Kanye and Virgil met in 2009 when they both interned at Fendi. Kanye couldn’t help but admire the brilliant and innovative Virgil, who had a degree in civil engineering AND a master’s degree in architecture. Kanye’s future projects might be QUITE different without Virgil’s magic touch…

Young or old, most rappers seem to enjoy flaunting their wealth in every way possible – jewelry, cars, and most surprisingly, designer handbags. (Pharrell thought nothing of carrying handbags and it got him a Chanel manbag ad campaign. Lenny Kravitz has been seen wearing a shoulderbag AND high heel boots!) ) It’s the old-school gangsta rappers that still surprise us when they carry designer bags. Snoop Dogg sauntered into Drake’s birthday party with “numerous female companions“ in this green tracksuit with shoelaces to match, and a Vuitton crossbody shoulderbag.

It so happens fake Louis Vuitton bulletproof items of all kind are popping up for sale on the internet – that includes, backpacks, luggage, jackets, even guns – at a wide array of prices. It might even inspire LV to offer the real thing…

GIGI HADID IS A TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW

Everybody tries to outdress each other at the CFDA Awards (Council of Fashion Designers of America) so it’s quite a spectacle. There was a lot of the Same Old Thing, but Gigi Hadid did not disappoint. She arrived with Virgil Abloh, the designer for Louis Vuitton that Kanye West aspires to be, and she’s beautifully attired in LV. Her outfit is layered and complicated with a pants-pleated skirt combo, long 80’s inspired jacket, and sash with crossbody bags. Worthy of a design event.

They sat in the front row in support of their friend – designer Kim Jones – who is leaving the label after designing for seven years and attracting a huge younger customer base. JENNIFER CONNELLY: CHEER UP – EVEN LOUIS VUITTON MAKES MISTAKES

Judging by this dress, Jennifer Connelly has a lot to be depressed about – hence her demeanor at the Lincoln Center event honoring Louis Vuitton. We’re assuming this is an LV creation and find it quite disturbing. The print is reminiscent of poor people’s wallpaper in the Depression era. The strange bodice looks like an oversize white bra is falling off her shoulders. Can you imagine anyone actually PAYING Louis Vuitton prices for this frock?

Madonna’s twins have quite a new life to get accustomed to. Esther and Stella,5, were adopted in February and their heads must be spinning from all that fashion and luxurious living. They are pictured here at the airport, returning from Madonna’s lavish birthday celebration in Europe. Madonna is wearing that Louis Vuitton X Supreme hoodie that teenagers are standing in line to pay $800.00 and up for. She’s also wearing Stella McCartney platform shoes. Don’t know WHY the twins have all their hair cut off. That’s Lourdes in the background hiding behind her yellow jacket.

MARC JACOBS PAMPERS HIS PUPPIES

We were charmed by this photo of prolific designer Marc Jacobs having lunch at a café in New York with an ex-boyfriend – not because of the guys, but because of the dogs. Marc’s adorable Bull Terrier and his friend’s dog happily wrestled on the sidewalk beside them. Jacobs has two Bull Terriers- Daisy and Alfred – and he had a special dog carrier trunk built at Louis Vuitton so his pets can travel in comfort.
