While Jessica Simpson is in New York showing off her “astounding” (?) weight loss, her mother Tina visited a divorce lawyer and instructed him to file in California. It may be a done deal as you read this, or still in the works. Joe Simpson and Tina have been separated for a few months, coincidentally or not, since he was caught sending “suspicious” messages on Twitter. Year ago, Tina and Joe divided up their daughter’s career management – Joe managed Jessica’s show business career and Tina took over her merchandising business. Jessica’s acting career fizzled but her branded merchandise has brought in hundreds of millions of dollars, making her mother VERY RICH. Joe has leased a condo on the beach in the Venice area and Tina is still living in their Encino house.

A RUDE AWAKENING FOR PREGNANT JESSICA SIMPSON

As Jessica Simpson gets bigger every day, her father Joe is frantically trying to close a deal to sell the “exclusive” story of her pregnancy to a magazine for $500,000. In other words, for half a million dollars People or US Weekly will have a photo of plump Jessica admitting she is, indeed, pregnant. So far no one is interested in the deal. For one thing, we already KNOW she’s pregnant. And apparently she is not in Angelina Jolie’s league when it comes to baby news, so the price tag is way too high. It’s a reality check for Jessica.

JESSICA SIMPSON IS THROWING HER SISTER ASHLEE A JUICY BONE

We’re thinking all this is Joe Simpson’s idea, but Jessica Simpson is definitely doing her sister Ashlee a BIG favor. Jessica’s clothing and accessory franchises are incredibly successful – earning her fifty million dollars a year. Ashlee’s singing and acting careers are in the dumpster, she and husband Pete Wentz are separated, and she can’t catch a break. So Jessica is attempting to share the wealth by asking her younger sister to create a line of fashions for tweens. Whether the public will have the same enthusiasm for Ashlee’s name remains to be seen. But it IS a nice thing for Jessica to do.

Pete Wentz came to his senses and straightened his hair again after experimenting with a natural curly look that did nothing to win back his estranged wife Ashlee Simpson. Ashlee is happier now, as is illustrated by the fact that the separated couple is spending more and more time together. Of course her father Joe Simpson is trying to sell a reality show about Ashlee as a single mom, so that throws a wrench in the works. Above left, Pete’s looking hotter and more rock-starish again and Ashlee has noticed. (Pete’s t-shirt says “Without You It’s just Me”)
