THE REAL REASON WHY EDDIE MURPHY DIDN’T WANT TO IMITATE BILL COSBY ON SNL

Eddie Murphy’s refusal to do his excellent imitation of Bill Cosby in the Saturday Night Live anniversary special isn’t exactly surprising. First of all, Eddie had some resentment toward SNL- after he left, they felt free to poke fun at him. Eddie’s run-ins with transvestites made him a delightful target. After police caught Eddie with a drag queen, several more cross-dressers came forward and sold stories about their adventures with Eddie. (The one police caught him with mysteriously died later after falling off a roof.) It was a humiliating time for Eddie and he never forgot. That’s why he didn’t want to pick on Bill Cosby – either he feels sorry for Bill (who happens to be GUILTY) or he was afraid his own embarrassing stories would be dredged up.

EDDIE MURPHY AND PAIGE BUTCHER DON’T WANT THEIR BUSINESS ALL OVER THE INTERNET

Two years and still going strong – Eddie Murphy, 53, and his Australian born fitness model Paige Butcher, 35, are still very much together. They met for the first time in 2006 when she appeared in “Big Momma’s House,” but at that time both were taken. They were both single when they bumped into each other again a few years ago, and have been together ever since. Coincidentally, they are both the same height – 5’9”. Since she started dating Eddie, Paige has given up all her social media sites to maintain their privacy.

Eddie Murphy is turning on the charm for his Australian glamour model girlfriend Paige Butcher as they lounge on the balcony of a hotel in Hawaii where they’re vacationing. Eddie had been playing the guitar and singing to Paige earlier. This is a long term romance for Eddie, 52. (Are we crazy or did Eddie used to say in his stand-up act that he wouldn’t date white women?) He and Paige, 33, have been together since last fall.

BEVERLY HILLS COP REVISITS RODEO DRIVE

Rodeo Drive has been blocked off at night and early morning while the pilot for Beverly Hills Cop (the TV series) is filming on location. A friend of ours snapped this photo. Eddie Murphy is appearing in the pilot – his character from the movie franchise, Axel Foley, is now the Chief of Police in Detroit. Axel has a son Aaron Foley, played by Brandon T Jackson, and he ends up policing in Beverly Hills. We wonder if any of the Persian cast from The Shahs of Sunset will turn up on the show…

When we first saw this photo of Eddie Murphy and his girlfriend, we thought he was dating Tiger Woods‘ ex Elin Nordegren. There IS a resemblance, but she’s actually Ford model Paige Butcher, originally from Australia. They’ve been together for a number of months and celebrated New Year’s Eve on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ yacht in St Barts. Paige, 33, says she loves cooking and “fixing things around the house.”

EDDIE MURPHY’S COMING BACK TO TV WITH A BADGE

Aside from Shrek, Eddie Murphy’s movie career has been lukewarm and he’s turning back to TV and his old stand-by “Beverly Hills Cop.” Eddie’s role as Axel Foley in the movie made him a big movie star. Now Eddie and the creator of “The Shield,” Shawn Ryan, have a TV series based on Beverly Hills Cop that they are pitching to various networks. In the series Eddie would play the chief of police and his “son,“ a new cop on the force, would be the real star. Eddie would only make occasional appearances. We’re guessing one of the networks will snap this up in a hurry.

Eddie and Rocsi have been seen around Hollywood together and recently returned from a vacation in Hawaii. Rocsi just left her BET job in hopes of starting an acting career, so she’s in the right hands. The pair were photographed at a pre-BET Awards party.

IS THE WORLD READY FOR A “TWINS” SEQUAL TWENTY FIVE YEARS LATER?

Will Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito still be funny as “Twins” twenty-five years later? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal wants to do a sequal called “Triplets.” The twins will discover that they have a third laboratory conceived sibling played by Eddie Murphy. Arnold and Danny have both agreed to reprise their roles, and Eddie is surprisingly up for the idea, but the catch is the studio is still looking for comedy writers to develop the story. Funny, we didn’t realize that “Twins” was THAT a big hit back in 1988. Keep in mind “21 Jump Street” sounded like a bad idea too, and it’s actually quite palatable – but the stars aren’t the same.

“TOWER HEIST” FEATURES THE RETURN OF THE FUNNY EDDIE MURPHY

We walked into a screening of “Tower Heist” wondering if Eddie Murphy would be funny. Surprise! Not only is HE funny but the whole movie is raucously fun and totally entertaining. Never a dull moment and what a great cast! It’s a comedy with some insightful and dramatic moments. If you’re in the mood for a fast moving really hilarious (and timely) movie, fork over your ticket money – this one is worth every cent. (It’s way better than the trailer indicates…)

A COMEBACK FOR OSCAR HOST EDDIE MURPHY?

Out of the blue, Eddie Murphy became this year’s Oscar host and this may prove to be a turning point for him. Oscar producer Brett Ratner hired his pal Eddie who stars in Brett’s upcoming movie “Tower Heist.” Eddie is not the ambitious young creative talent he was on Saturday Night Live and “48 Hours.” According to the L.A. Tiimes he is now most noted for his “half-hearted work ethic and sense of entitlement.” Eddie’s massive talent became mired in his own ego. His recent movies, aside from Shrek, have been critical and boxoffice flops. He is also remembered less for his humor than his questionable sexual proclivities. Eddie can put this all behind him if he wows us on the Oscar show. But will he make the effort?
