MOVIE STAR KEVIN COSTNER MOVED OVER TO TV

The pandemic hasn’t damaged Kevin Costner’s career. His Yellowstone series for the Paramount Network is a hit and going into season 4. At the same time he’s been both writing and producing a new series for ABC called National Parks Investigation (apparently he loves anything filmed in the great outdoors.) It’s a crime series – we didn’t realize there was “a vast array of criminal activity” in national parks! Oscar winner Kevin’s life is all about TV these days and his family is probably happy to have him home more often. Costner took his wife Christine and their two sons, Cayden and Hayes, out for breakfast in Montecito this morning…

JENNIFER LOPEZ: GOOD COP OR BAD COP?

Jennifer Lopez keeps herself busy- she’s started filming her new TV cop drama ”Shades of Blue” in New York with Ray Liotta and Drea de Matteo. She plays a cop on the take who’s very tight with her group of corrupt police. The FBI forces her to become an informant and spy on coworkers. It’s a financial and moral dilemma. Barry Levinson is one of the executive producers, adding gravitas, as is Jen’s manager Benny Medina.

Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey have a lot in common right now. Both singers are 44 and both released unsuccessful albums this summer. Both split up with their men and both have been seen spending more time than ever with their twins. But while Mariah seems confused and tormented, Jennifer is taking action. She’s concentrating on the area where she’s found success – TV. Jennifer earned a lot of money on American Idol and she has a new series filming next year, Shades of Blue. Oscar winner Barry Levinson is directing the pilot in which Jen plays a single mother/ FBI undercover agent. (Above, she took her twins Max and Emme out to dinner at La Conversation.)

EDDIE MURPHY’S COMING BACK TO TV WITH A BADGE

Aside from Shrek, Eddie Murphy’s movie career has been lukewarm and he’s turning back to TV and his old stand-by “Beverly Hills Cop.” Eddie’s role as Axel Foley in the movie made him a big movie star. Now Eddie and the creator of “The Shield,Shawn Ryan, have a TV series based on Beverly Hills Cop that they are pitching to various networks. In the series Eddie would play the chief of police and his “son,“ a new cop on the force, would be the real star. Eddie would only make occasional appearances. We’re guessing one of the networks will snap this up in a hurry.

SHE’S READY – “DYNASTY’S” JOAN COLLINS WANTS A COMEBACK ON TV

Joan Collins loves the 80’s revival in fashion – these poofy shoulders are something Dynasty’s Alexis Carrington would have adored. We hear that Joan is eager to be back on TV and she’s hustling to sell a series about two aging actors (her and Robert Wagner to be exact ) who run a hotel in Hollywood and give advice to young actors starting out. With those shoulders she’s bound to talk someone into producing it.

The Jersey Shore gang packed up their stuff at the end of the third season, picked up their checks from the T-shirt store, and prepared to re-enter the outside world. Being on a paid vacation is great but they have to do it WITHOUT cell phones, or TV, or internet access! As much as they will miss their housemates and all that nightclub creepin,’ they are desperate to get back to civilization and electronics.

Keep in mind, New Yorkers consider themselves the most sophisticated people in the world.

CBS USES JUSTIN BIEBER TO LURE YOUNGER VIEWERS TO CSI

CBS is straining to get younger viewers for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which is already a hit with adults, so they cast Justin Bieber in his first TV role as a troubled teen for the season debut. And they’re really milking his storyline – it will stretch over several shows and conclude near the end of the season. This weekend Justin tweeted this photo which he claimed is from the CSI set.

IT’S ABOUT TIME: AL PACINO’S FIRST TV COMMERCIAL

It’s a big deal when Al Pacino does his first TV commercial. He finally dipped his toe in the lucrative water of advertising for an Australian coffee company, Vittoria Coffee. The company is owned by an Italian migrant family so that appealed to Al, plus he loves the coffee. Al has never been to Australia so they filmed the spot, which was directed by Barry Levinson, in his own neighborhood in New York. Of course, it will only be shown in Australia.
