ELTON JOHN: THIS DAMIEN HIRST PINK SPLATTERED AUDI IS WORTH A FORTUNE

Elton John is auctioning off this one of a kind Audi A1 that has been custom painted by the impossibly popular and “wealthiest living artist,” Damien Hirst. This particular Audi model won’t be available to the general public for months. Among other things, Hirst is famous for “spin paintings” and he did the same to this car. Despite Hirst’s obsession with “death,” Elton has assured art collecting bidders that the vehicle is “road legal and safe.” Since works by Hirst have sold for twenty million dollars, it will be interesting to see how much money Elton’s AIDS charity will benefit from this art inspired auction. We wish Elton would donate some of the money to women’s charities.

SHANE MACGOWAN, JOHNNY DEPP, AND FRIENDS PUT A SPELL ON YOU FOR A REASON

Now HERE’S a charity song you can sink your teeth into. Our insightful colleague Lisa Derrick at The Huffington Post obviously has a thing for Shane MacGowan like we do. She revealed that Shane gathered up some buddies including Johnny Depp, Nick Cave, and Chrissie Hynde, to record a new version of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ classic “I Put a Spell on You” to raise money for Haiti. It’s cool to see Shane and Johnny together again and the song is a lot less sappy than most fundraising songs – give it a listen. (By the way, what happened to Shane’s “new” teeth?)

MADONNA AND JESUS ARE HELPING BRAZILIAN CHILDREN LEARN ABOUT KABBALAH

Madonna and the boyfriend she DIDN’T break up with, Jesus Luz, are very cozy in Brazil while she’s getting charity work done. Madonna supports poor children’s charities in Brazil but you can bet Kabbalah is heavily involved. Certainly red strings go along with the financial help. Above, Madonna and Jesus and Mercy are traveling with a big entourage on a sightseeing outing.

MOCA HOPES YOU’LL FIT INTO LADY GAGA’S SHOES

gagadress1 Prada designed size 4 bouffant dress, hand painted and festooned with chandelier glass, and Frank Gehry designed headdress that Lady Gaga wore when she performed at the MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala are being auctioned off to raise money for the museum. Included with the dress are Gaga’s matching size 6 and ½ platform shoes with chandelier glass dripping from the heels. (Tiny feet!) Yes, the headpiece reminds us of Disney Hall. We saw these treasures up close and they ARE exceptional.The costume is valued at $30,000, but someone might get a good deal. The Gehry hat is also valued at $30,000, and it’s all for a worthwhile cause – we love our museum.

MADONNA HITS UP MILLIONAIRES TO DONATE TO HER CHILDREN’S CHARITY IN BRAZIL

Hoping the increase the popularity of Kabbalah in Brazil, Madonna flew by helicopter to a fancy island where Rio’s rich and famous reside, to raise money for her planned children’s charity in Brazil. Her flying outfit seems to be inspired by the 1930’s. It’s rumored that she’s already raised ten million dollars for the charity. Later she and Jesus left Brazil on a commercial flight.

STEVE JONES DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT

It looks like anarchy is the farthest thing from Steve Jones’ mind. The radio DJ (and former Sex Pistol) is sporting some extra heft, accentuated by the color white, as he plays in a charity soccer match in downtown LA. His hugely popular radio show “Jonesy’s Jukebox” was another casualty of the recession and he is sorely missed in LA.

Charity Gene Simmons Gene Simmons Family Jewels Kids Shannon Tweed

SHANNON TWEED GOES THE EXTRA MILE

One thing about “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” star Shannon Tweed – when she hosts a charity event, she really gets involved. She hosted an outdoor tea in Westlake for the Cure in the Canyons fundraiser for breast cancer research and she made a revealing speech. Shannon spoke about the need for open communication about the disease. She related that a few years ago, when her teenage son Nick was dating his first “serious” girlfriend, he came to Shannon and told her he was upset because he felt a lump in his girlfriend’s breast. He hadn’t said anything and didn’t know what to do. Shannon urged him to tell the girl immediately so she could be checked. He did, and everything turned out OK. Shannon praised him for sharing the information with her and doing something about it. Shannon also contributed some physical labor for the event. Journalist Sue Facter noted that Shannon was seen picking up tables and chairs and hauling them into the shade (in high heels, yet) when the weather turned hot. Family Jewels has been renewed for a fourth season.
