MEET BERLIN’S ODD COUPLE: EVA & ADELE

If you went to Art Basel in Miami you might have run into this odd pair of performance artists who call themselves Eva and Adele. They claim to be hermaphrodite twins from the future who landed their time machine in Berlin in 1989. (No one seems to know their real names or ages.) Eva, the taller one, was born a man and had her birth certificate changed to female. They dress alike (and extravagantly) every day with similar makeup and shaved heads. It’s not easy maintaining their image – it takes them 3 hours to get ready every day and they are never seen unless dressed to the nines. They try to attend as many art events as possible and sell their own creations.

DISMALAND: A “BEMUSEMENT PARK” FOR ADULTS

Banksy has outdone even his own amazing self with this apocalyptic theme park called “Dismaland” in the UK. He took an abandoned amusement park and started a rumor that a movie was being made there while he spent weeks converting the place under total secrecy. The pop-up art exhibition features a demented assortment of artwork by artists from around the world. Besides art, the place features a dingy castle, terrifying rides, games, and plenty of anti-corporate messages. Dismaland will only be open for five weeks ending September 27, so hurry up! Leave the kids at home.

COURTNEY STODDEN IS AN ARTIST’S DREAM

In case you were wondering, teen bride Courtney Stodden IS back with her mature husband, actor Doug Hutchison. She took a break from their marriage and tried being single for awhile, but decided she didn’t like it. Pin-up queen Courtney is a favorite subject for zany Hollywood pop culture artist Sham Ibrahim. (Despite his flamboyant appearance, Sham happens to be a really sweet guy with a sense of humor.) Courtney and Doug admired his latest work at Sham’s gallery opening on Hollywood Blvd. We have one of Sham’s paintings hanging in our hallway.

LOOKIN’ GOOD: SOPHIA LOREN IN MOSCOW

Sophia Loren turned out to be the main attraction at a Moscow art exhibition of Niklas Safronov’s work. Niklas is perhaps the most important Russian artist of the early 21st century. He specializes in portraits of famous personalities –performers, politicians etc- with a twist. Sophia is one of his subjects and one of many celebrities who collect his work. Sophia looks great, but we just don’t like her eye glasses.

Angelina Jolie wants to encourage her children’s artistic abilities so she took her older daughters, Shiloh and Zahara to a New York art store for supplies. It’s a good thing Angelina has daughters – otherwise she’d have no one to shop with since she seems to have no girlfriends. Shiloh, 8, is getting incredibly TALL and quite pretty.

Heidi Klum, 41, is becoming a fixture in the art world. Fresh from signing her final divorce papers, Heidi and her boyfriend, art dealer Vito Schnabel, 28, have been turning up at the major art events in the world. They arrived promptly on the first day of the FIAC (contemporary art fair) at the Grand Palais, which is the main gallery base. The show is spread over several city locations and many art events are planned for the week. Their relationship is going surprisingly well, and Vito has brought Heidi to many important art events over the past year.

JOHN MELLENCAMP OR ABSENT MINDED PROFESSOR?

We used to see John Mellencamp shopping around New York with his girlfriend Meg Ryan, but no more. They parted ways when he refused to leave his Indiana home and move to New York. Of course they could change their minds at any time. Mellencamp has another outlet for his creativity besides music – he’s also an artist. An exhibition of his paintings at the Museum of Art in Deland, Florida, drew 2000 to the opening reception last week. He does look a little distracted with those reading glasses on his forehead…

COURTNEY STODDEN NEVER SAW A PICTURE OF HERSELF SHE DIDN’T LIKE

Courtney Stodden, 20, and her 54 year old husband Doug Hutchison showed up to admire their paintings at the World of Wonder gallery opening for pop artist Sham Ibrahim, at left above. They split up earlier this year while Courtney sowed some wild oats (she wanted to be “reckless” for awhile) but she missed Doug and took him back. The artist Sham urged them to hang their portraits prominently at home and we’re quite certain they did.

Looks like at least one of Brad and Angelina’s kids is an artist. Brad, Angelina, Maddox, and Zahara were photographed hustling through the airport as usual, and Brad was wearing a special t-shirt. If you look closely it’s a kid’s drawing of Brad and Angelina – perhaps a Father’s Day gift. Cute.
