Even though it took place in New York City, The Met Gala was one of the biggest Hollywood stories this week so a lot of our gossip comes from the event. The Met was packed with more celebrities than the Academy Awards, and here’s what we know. Despite the A-list attendees, it was who WASN’T there that we have this scoop on. Desperate to rebuild her social standing, Ivanka Trump was hoping to score an invite to the event this year, but since her father is unpopular with the celebrity and fashion crowd, she was left OFF the guest list. We heard that Ivanka leaned on her pal, attendee Kim Kardashian, to help her score the coveted invite, but even Kim couldn’t make it happen!
In more Met news, Kamala Harris was a first time attendee but we heard her appearance didn’t go off without some last minute hiccups. The former Vice President has packed on few pounds since she left Washington DC, and her dress needed to be let out during her final fitting. Although Kamala still looks great, I’m hearing she’s not thrilled with the extra weight (who WOULD be?) and she just hired a personal trainer to help her get back in tip top shape.
Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner were planning to make the Met their official red carpet joint appearance. As we recently reported, the lovebirds are SECRETLY engaged. But a few days before the Gala they decided it wasn’t the right event to walk the red carpet together. In fact, Timothee opted to skip the event all together and a few days later her and Kylie made headlines in Italy for making their first red carpet joint appearance. I heard that their publicists realized walking the red carpet together at a big event like the Gala would BARELY make any headlines, and that’s why they waited to do it somewhere else.
Demi Moore looked stunning at the Gala in a Thom Browne gown that was designed to look like a men’s necktie (very on point for the theme) but she was disappointed that her barely 2 pound lap dog Pilaf wasn’t allowed to attend. Demi considers the dog a service animal for her mental health and even though she has the license to carry Pilaf practically everywhere, the Gala has a strict no pet policy. Demi tried pulling a few strings but the organizers wouldn’t make an exception.
As usual Donald Trump made headlines, this time for disrespecting the Catholic Church by posting an AI generated photo of himself as the Pope, just days after Pope Francis passed away. It should come as no surprise that his devout Catholic wife, Melania gave him a hard time for the fiasco. I just heard that Melania knows the BEST away to punish Donald is with his wallet, so she treated herself to a crucifix necklace dripping with various gemstones including diamonds. The vintage piece, from a chic jeweler in Palm Springs, was something Melania noticed awhile back during a visit to Worth Avenue, but she didn’t want to drop THAT much money. But after Donald’s gaffe, she decided to treat herself and made sure her husband knew she bought the piece to teach him a lesson.
Jury selection finally began in Diddy’s criminal trial and as we previously reported he was able to persuade a judge to let him wear civilian clothes during the court case. We just heard though, that his stylist isn’t shopping in Diddy’s personal closet – since all of his clothes are either inappropriate or way too expensive. Diddy wants to appear relatable and humble ( which won’t be easy for the anything-but rapper) so he will be dressing in clothes from such mainstream brands as Banana Republic and Zara.
