MELISSA RIVERS CARES ABOUT HER MOTHER’S FRIENDS
Melissa Rivers created and produced the upcoming special tribute to her late mother, Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute, which is airing on NBC. When the special was filmed in November, the celebrity roasters, including White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza, posed with an URN supposedly containing Joan’s ashes. (we happen to think it was a prop) Barely a month after the special taped, Aubrey’s estranged husband Jeff Baena committed suicide, and naturally she felt uncomfortable with the yet-unreleased publicity photos showing her posing with the urn. Considerate Melissa agreed and had the urn airbrushed out of Aubrey’s photos – so now she is only seen posing with an empty pedestal. Hence this odd photo….

Just thinking aloud to myself that Melissa Rivers most likely footed the entire production with the money her mother left her. I just can’t see NBC getting behind something like this unless she took a major financial stake in it.
