It’s been awhile since we’ve laid eyes on Cher having a good time. After cancelling some concerts and personal appearances, she appears to be in very good health in St Tropez where she’s shopping with friends and took an ice cream break. (You don’t get to see Cher EATING very often, either!) Perhaps she went to Europe to escape the political situations here – Cher gets very emotionally involved and often disappointed.

Cher, 69, HAS to look good pretty much all the time now that she’s the face of Marc Jacobs Fall Collection. (They went to the Met Gala together.) He probably gave her a truckload of new outfits. She’s sharing the honor with Willow Smith, 14, because Marc says that “Style knows no age.” Cher showed up at LAX in an interesting jacket and loads of hair.

Cher hasn’t been seen a lot since she cancelled her tour last fall for health reasons. She was suffering from a viral infection that affected her kidneys. She’s been home tweeting a lot lately however. Occasionally her tweets are a little nuts like the one claiming that diet drinks are just as fattening as sugary sodas, but she’s always opinionated. Above, Cher was photographed on her way to see “Hamilton” at the Public Theater downtown – it’s described as the hottest ticket in New York.

Life with Cher can’t be easy. Both of her kids, Elijah, 37, and Chaz, 44, have had serious rifts with her, but usually patched things up. Elijah has always been the one who kept to himself, but now he’s TALKING. He admitted that he had a heroin problem in the past. He and his girlfriend Angie were living with Cher at her Malibu house for quite awhile but he moved out in October after they had an argument. (He met Angie, 26, when he was in Germany being treated for Lyme disease and she was in a band.) It seems Cher didn’t get along with Angie and two months after they moved out, Elijah and Angie got married and Cher stayed away. Cher and Elijah haven’t spoken for months and she never acknowledged his marriage. Why is he spilling the beans now? Elijah wants a reality show! He wants a show documenting him while he refurbishes his ordinary house into a medieval dwelling. Cher has more reasons to be grateful for her incredible life than most people we know. She has lived like royalty and been admired for most of her existence. None of this probably would have happened if her father’s predecessors hadn’t left Armenia. But is Cher grateful to America for showering her with riches? Nope, she holds a grudge. She announced that she doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving because she whines, “It glorifies crimes against native Americans.” (Apparently Cher considers herself one because her mother Georgia Holt claims to have Cherokee in her family) She even accuses the US Army of deliberately giving Indians small pox infected blankets in the 1700’s! This gruesome theory has never been substantiated and begs the question “How does one wage germ warfare when he doesn’t know what a germ IS?” Listen Cher, you don’t have to be religious or political to celebrate Thanksgiving – you only have to be grateful for what you have!

We’ve never seen Cher promote an album with more enthusiasm than she did her latest one, and her hard work has paid off. “Closer to the Truth” (containing her single “Woman’s World”) is expected to debut on the Billboard chart tomorrow at #3 and that’s the BIGGEST debut of her 26 album history! (Drake is #1 and Kings of Leon #2) Another old-timer, Elton John, might not be thrllled to learn he’s following Cher at #4. It all bodes well for Cher’s planned album tour. It’s amazing how her popularity endures.
Funny how you might not see Cher for years at a time while she hides out in Malibu, and suddenly she’s EVERYWHERE. She’s determined to make her new album “Closer to the Truth” (her first in 11 years) a hit, and her single “Woman’s World” already reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Chart. Cher appeared on The Today Show this morning and we could SWEAR that during her interview Matt Lauer let a secret slip out. We thought we heard him say that Cher had big news about her ENGAGEMENT. There was an awkward silence and the subject was abruptly changed and they talked about something else. Did Matt spill the beans or did we imagine it? Cher has been hanging out with writer Ron Zimmerman and says that she learned to keep her private life private. We wonder if anyone else saw this on the show…

If Cher didn’t prove once and for all, to all you doubters that Tom Cruise is STRAIGHT- we give up trying! Cher does NOT lie! Back in the 80’s after Tom hit it big in “Risky Business,” he and Cher had a fling. (We’re not sure if he was a Scientologist yet) We happen to have written in Star magazine about an evening they spent necking on the couch at a party at Paul Newman’s house. They also went out in public together. Cher was 16 years older than Tom and they were definitely an odd but affectionate couple for a short time. Cher was crazy about Tom and he was flattered by her attention. Fact is, she wouldn’t have rhapsodized about Tom to Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live”, if it hadn’t been a genuine hetero -romance. So there. (We’re guessing that wig had something to do with the eventual split)
Cher appeared at LAX dressed in a black leather jacket, hat, and boots. She was closely followed by her 36 year old son Elijah Allman, and his girlfriend. The last we heard Elijah was living part time in Germany, involved in art and music. His life remains something of a mystery since his band Deadsy split up.
