How funny is it that Ryan “pass the buck” O’Neal blames Oprah for widening the rift in his family. Ryan, 70, and his estranged daughter Tatum, 47, filmed eight episodes of their reality show all about their attempts to reconcile after ten years of estrangement for the Oprah Winfrey Network. We have to give Tatum a lot of credit for even attempting to get along with her impossible father. The series featured therapy sessions including father and daughter but after it wrapped they were no longer speaking at all. Ryan blames not his own history as a monstrous father, but Oprah’s prying series. We think Tatum is better off without him.

Maybe I was just sucked in, but I found Tatum to be pretty sincere and responsible in her efforts to reconcile. But who knows, it’s ‘reality’ tv afterall.

tatum’s a pain in the ass too. She blames her father for everything. Where’s her own responsibility for what she put her own kids through. If memory serves me, she didn’t even have custody of them, and had to wait till the reached 18 years of age to even live with them full time. But I’m sure that’s her father’s fault to. Ryan’s no saint, but come on, she needs to look at her own effects. She’s her kid’s “ryan.” Because, they sure as hell can play the blame game too.

I watched most of their reality shows. It appeared Tatum really wanted to reconcile, but she seemed to want to keep going back rehashing their history, and what good does that do? He was a rotten parent, but he probably did the best he could. Her biological mother was no prize, either. Some people should just not be allowed to have kids! But I think she either has to accept the past and accept him for the person he is, or cut all ties. She’s not going to change him and she’s not going to change the past.
Ryan O’Neill is an asshole of the highest order. He’s acted like a child his whole life and has never taken responsibility for what a shitty father he’s always been. He did drugs with Redmond, for cryin’ out loud! He should just go away. Tatum is way more of an adult than he is.

Some times family break down and all communication is lost and maybe the relationship was on it way out to start off with and…A matter of fact both could had rejected the visit to the Oprahs show to start off with.
Tatum blame yourself for not reaching out to your father and your a very lucky girl to have a father? You know how many woman in this world don’t have a father to love and call and say hello to! Your lucky and blessed and…Often I wonder do you have any children of your own and have you ever made your father a grandfather?
Any and all woman in this world without a father would change places with you at a drop of the Hat, Just to be able to pick up the phone and say to there Dad…I love you…But you are just taking it for Granted and you choose to enore your father and for Heavens sake the man is 70 years old and his life should not be so stressful and full of frustration and Heartache and Yes parent screw up and make mistakes but it is time to move on and get over it and turn a new page and start over again.
I hope that you learn to put the bad stuff behind and just pick up and start new and be there for your father and let him be there for you. Yelling and screaming and fighting…It is not right to feel the stress and tention and frustration and anger and hurt…Open your heart to moving on and just being a daughter to your father and having fun and spending time together on another level?
