COURTNEY LOVE ISN’T AS NASTY AS SHE USED TO BE

The Nasty Gal store on Melrose had a special opening to promote their new Courtney Love Collection, and the Mistress of Grunge herself turned up for the event. Courtney says that special items she has worn during her career were pulled from her closet as inspiration for the rock n’ roll collection. Her garments are affordable ($48 to $188) but not as disturbing as one would hope. Rather tame, actually. There are baby doll dresses, tutus and lots of black lace and mesh but not much grunge. No cigarette holes or bloodstains… Click HERE to see the collection.

We couldn’t NOT publish this photo of Hilary Duff because she has NEVER looked more glamorous! Like a real movie star! Maybe her new series “Younger” and the fact that she’s single, has influenced her style. The TV Land comedy series is produced by “Sex & the City” creator Darren Star and it has certain desirable similarities to “City.” Hilary, 28, plays an ambitious and well-dressed career girl in New York. The new season starts this week.

SEAN PENN: NOT AS HOT AS HE THOUGHT HE WAS!

Oh my. The truth DOES tend to drift to the surface eventually. Sean Penn’s ego must be crushed since it has been revealed that drug kingpin El Chapo (Joaquin Guzman) had NEVER HEARD of Sean Penn before their secret interview! The New York Post reported that Mexican actress Kate Del Castillo had been exchanging flirty emails with El Chapo and arranged the Rolling Stone interview with Penn. El Chapo’s lawyer told his client that Sean Penn has starred in “21 Grams” but the drug lord had never seen the movie and had no idea who Penn was. It turns out that El Chapo was actually very interested in meeting Del Castillo and did the Penn interview to get closer to HER. So Sean Penn’s STAR POWER did not open doors – it was actually Kate Del Castillo’s SEX APPEAL that landed Penn that interview!

JERRY HALL AND RUPERT MURDOCH: A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN!

Seems like EVERYBODY in LA is in SHOCK about the sudden engagement of Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall. Yep, it’s a big surprise, but when you stop to think about it – it works! He IS older – Rupert is 84 and Jerry is 59. He’s been married 4 times and Jerry has NEVER been married. (She was with Mick Jagger for 23 years, but they never married.) Rupert is a billionaire, but Jerry is estimated to be worth 15 million herself. They started seeing each other over the summer and made their first public appearance together in October. And they seem to be having FUN! (FYI: Murdoch was the best boss we ever had – when it came to company benefits, and don’t forget – he loves tabloids!) We approve of this match!

WE STILL NOMINATE “BROOKLYN” FOR BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR

Saoirse Ronan (we still can’t pronounce her name!) is in New York promoting her incredible movie Brooklyn, and she needs all the help she can get. It’s a magnificent film and not getting the attention it deserves. It’s not flashy and features no big name stars, so you may not have heard a lot about it. But it’s beautifully and sensitively written and acted, and transports the audience to another time and place. It happens to be surprisingly timely because it deals with immigration and adaptation. You walk out feeling like you just read a great book – with a happy ending.

She’s been campaigning to legalize toplessness for women, so it makes sense that Scout Willis, 24, would flaunt a provocative look at a party. Visible under the negligee dress is a red bra and girdle with garters peeking out. This girl loves her vintage lingerie. Rocco Ritchie, 15, looks happy as a clam skateboarding in London. A month ago he ditched him mother Madonna on her Rebel Tour and went to stay with his dad, director Guy Ritchie. He says he prefers the normal family life he has with Guy and his wife Jacqui and their 3 kids. Rocco has lots more freedom in London where he isn’t so often recognized. (And it’s easier to flirt with girls.) The probability of a real custody battle became clear when Rocco did NOT show at his fancy NY school on Monday after the Christmas holidays. LANA WACHOWSKI MAKES BEING TRANSGENDER LOOK LIKE FUN

Before Caitlyn Jenner there was Lana Wachowski. Lana, 50, is the first major Hollywood director to come out as transgender. Lana and her brother Andy Wachowski are responsible for the Matrix film franchise and much more. We find Lana fascinating because she is so atypical. Instead of glamming up with tons of hair and makeup and cleavage, she chooses to look more like a funky pop star or eccentric Diane Keaton type. She is WAY more imaginative than most transwomen – hence the bright colored dreadlocks. Marc Jacobs was inspired to feature her prominently in his Spring 2016 campaign.
