STOP THIS “CULTURAL APPROPRIATION” NONSENSE!

SHAME on Page Six for keeping those noxious words “cultural appropriation” in circulation. Kim Kardashian was accused of this absurd “crime” because she wore BRAIDS, and a few lame people online complained. First of all, let’s get this straight – IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY! Exchange of cultural habits is a GOOD thing – it indicates that different cultures are appreciating each other. Few people are ignorant enough to think this is a bad thing, but Page Six (whom we usually admire) chose to create unnecessary negativity. White people in braids, black people in ponytails – it’s all good.

Above, While in Paris, Kim visited with Rick Owens flamboyant wife Michele Lamy, who seems to be wearing an inflatable fishnet dress, thereby stealing Kim’s thunder!

ROSE BYRNE AND BOBBY CANNAVALE: STILL HAPPILY UNMARRIED

Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale are one of our favorite Hollywood couples – they’re really private, but manage to seem like very normal people. They have two young sons (3 and 4) and they have managed to costar in projects six or seven times, mostly under the radar. Rose WAS appealing in the movie Like a Boss with Tiffany Haddish, but the script, about two business women, was ironically badly written by two men, so it never had a chance. Hopefully Byrne will shine in the upcoming FX series Mrs America – she plays a mini-skirted Gloria Steinem in the story of the Equal Rights Amendment.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD GIVES FACE MASKS AN EDGE

Like all designers, Vivienne Westwood now has to cater to the rap and hip hop fashion crowd, so she’s presenting some rough streetwear to appeal to them. This outfit from her fall collection is even more appropriate than she expected it to be. The leather studded mask over the gauzy headpiece could easily be Coronavirus protection. Actually we’re not sure if this model is a man or a woman, but we’re guessing male by the size of the feet.

OOH LA LA! PARIS DESIGNERS LOVE JANELLE MONAE

Janelle Monae jumped for joy on her way into the Valentino fashion show in Paris. The fashion house always likes to have her in the front row wearing one of their creations. Designers love to dress Janelle because she has extravagant – and fearless- taste of her own, and whatever they make for her will definitely attract attention.

KIM KARDASHIAN CAN’T GET ENOUGH LATEX

We don’t envy Kim Kardashian as she and North arrive at Kanye West’s Sunday service in Paris. Kim is feverishly promoting Olivier Rousteing’s Fall 2020 collection for Balmain, featuring lots of latex clothing. Kim’s been wearing a different latex ensemble every day, hoping to start a trend, and we have to assume Olivier GAVE her the clothing because who would actually BUY that much latex? In case you’ve never worn latex, it is TORTURE to put on, (you need talc or silicone lube) and feels uncomfortably hot and sweaty or cold and damp, depending on the atmosphere. Latex outfits are usually designed by men who have never worn it. Will latex wear for CHILDREN be next?

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING GLORIA STEINEM

Ronan Farrow (we like to call him a girl’s best friend) hosted an A&E Network women’s panel in New York that included one of our all-time favorite people – Gloria Steinem. She inspired us through the years to survive the behavior of patriarchal editors and producers and fight for women’s rights. Surely she played an enormous part in the conviction of Harvey Weinstein. We cannot thank her enough…

RICK OWENS WAS ONCE A SWEET CALIFORNIA GUY- WITH STYLE TO BURN

Speaking of designer Rick Owens, here’s an outfit from his latest collection. Owens started out in LA – we fondly remember back in the 90’s shopping at his first store on Las Palmas – a seedy side street in Hollywood. His clothing was part grunge, part goth – and quite expensive, but unbearably desirable! Rick’s French girlfriend/partner Michele Lamy opened the celebrity hotspot Le Deux across the street and she gave his business a huge boost. They ended up getting married, moving to Paris, and the rest is history. We still have one of his t-shirts from those days…

GWENDOLYN CHRISTIE: BIGGER IS BETTER

At 6’3”, English actress Gwendolyn Christie was discouraged early on from becoming an actress, but she persevered. She started out playing awkward office workers, aliens, policewomen, and finally landed a role in Game of Thrones. That changed everything. Suddenly designers “discovered” her and they love to take advantage of the fact that she attracts a lot of attention. Lately Gwendolyn has been turning up on red carpets looking fabulous and she’s in Paris right now fearlessly flashing this Rick Owens creation.

BILLY IDOL WANTS TRUCKS TO STOP IDLING

We never heard of the “War on Idling” in New York, but this cute photo of Billy Idol inspired us to look into it. It seems NY Mayor Bill De Blasio is obsessed with the fact that vehicles – especially delivery trucks, do not turn off their engines while parked – they idle. Of course that pollutes neighborhoods, but no matter how many tickets are given, the habit persists in the city. Billy Idol lives in Los Angeles, but he’s a good sport and joined the campaign because he has the right name and wants a clean environment. Of course Billy attracted a nice crowd to the PR event.

THIS IS ALEC BALDWIN’S LIFE

How different Alec Baldwin’s life would be if he had never met his wife Hilaria. Alec had earned a reputation in Hollywood as being “difficult” to put it mildly. He argued with directors, made demands on the set, and attacked paparazzi. He’s been forced to go to anger management classes and a parenting course, before he could communicate with daughter Ireland. A contentious divorce from Kim Basinger and twitter battles enhanced his negative image. Eight years ago Hilaria came along and four babies later he is posing at Disneyland with the family and on good terms with Ireland again…(Ireland is with her musician boyfriend Corey Harper)
