We’ve been fans of Mira Sorvino ever since “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” so it was nice to see her turn up at the premier of “Shutter Island” in New York. Despite all odds, she and her younger husband, actor Chris Backus, have been successfully married for six years and have two children. They look close in age, but Mira is 42 and Chris is 28 – around the same age difference as Simon Cowell and his fiancee.

Loved her in Romy and Michelle, but she was great in Will & Grace, as Will’s one and only heterosexual conquest. She helped make that episode one of the funniest of the series. What has she done lately?
When Mira accepted her Oscar for Mighty Aprhrodite,her father Paul (tough guy from Goodfellas)was in tears as she paid homage to him during her acceptance speech.He had me in tears.In the entertainment industry six years is a long time,but Mira is a well educated young performer,who has a strong sense of family.She does not seek the limelight and her priorities are in place.
