Jack Klugman (top right,) the last remaining star of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple feature film and TV series, has died at the age of 90. Klugman played the gruff sportswriter Oscar opposite Tony Randall as the fussbudget Felix. in the popular 70’s TV series. In the 1968 movie, Walter Matthau starred as Oscar and Jack Lemmon as Felix. We loved both the movie and the series – they were all great actors who are all gone now. Which was your favorite couple? (Feel free to mix and match.)
they simply can’t do it alone……….
R.I.P Jack and thanks for all the laughs. All four of these guys were American treasures. Very funny guys who gave all of us years of entertainment and some of the best movies and television ever.
Ditto what Dawn said. Also loved him on Quincy, M.E.
I agree with Dawn and Denise, this is one foursome that is hard to choose. All four were great entertainers and each unique to their interpretation of their roles in The Odd Couple. What great actors, entertainment. They don’t make actors like that anymore. Truly great at their craft. I watched the television show and the movie both very good. Rest in peace. You all made a difference, left a legacy of entertainment:)
and don’t forget Charles Durning. None of today’s actors match up to these guys and that’s for sure
@palermo, absolutely.
Durning’s song and dance performance as the Governor in “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” is one of my all-time favorite movie scenes. Probably because the lyrics are so true of politicians.
Durning sd Sperm Whale in the Choir Boys!!
That should be Durning “as”.
Jack Lemmon as Felix but Jack Lemmon in general.
Remember Penny Marshall on the series? (“Myrna?”) She was hilarious! Glad SHE’s Still around! Happy New Year, Janet. xxx
all the great ones are passing away. Now we are left with all these goofy reality “stars”. ugh.
The copy police at your service, Janet. 🙂 It’s 1970s, NEVER 1970’s. Take out that extra punctuation mark next time… 🙂
An actor actor’s.
don’t you mean an actor’s actor ?
