Sly, along with some of The Family Stone are still trying to forge a comeback and they’re booked Friday, April 25, at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Let’s hope the show is longer than the brief but tantalizing appearance he made onstage at the 2006 Grammys. It’s only too easy to imagine what happened to Sly in all these years since his raging popularity in the funk-mad early 70’s. (He was the first rockstar we ever saw with a portable phone – it was the size of a thick briefcase. Sly wanted to be able to call his lawyer at the drop of a rolled up hundred dollar bill.) He’s got a bad back and he’s hunched over now. Sly says he fell off a cliff walking in his yard. We just hope he shows up Friday – with or without the mohawk.
Who is this guy? Does anyone go to these geezer shows?
Is that a pregnant chicken?
I am so tired of those ol’ rock and roll junkies dragging their wasted bodies on tour long after the fact!
Sly Stone was one of the greats! His music was THE BEST, there would be no Prince without Sly! But he dissed (and lost) his audiences for his drug habit, either he showed up super late or not at all!
And now that the money has dried up-he sold his music catalog to Micheal Jackson- (Janet Jackson uses some of his samples on her music) he is making nice!
Pathetic (still, his music holds up but he is beyond hope)!
Looooved Sly back in the day, but I’ve got to agree with Art Chic on this one. It is pathetic.
