GENE SIMMONS CAN’T WAIT FOR THE DEATH OF RAP

Kiss singer Gene Simmons created a firestorm in the hip hop community when he commented to Rolling Stone “I’m looking forward to the death of rap!” And Gene thinks rappers have no place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They sample and talk – they don’t even SING!” He says he likes SOME rap but “I don’t have the cultural background to appreciate being a gangster.” The Family Jewels reality star took his wife of five years, Shannon Tweed, to the Grove for some shopping and dining.

GENE SIMMONS HAS A PLACE IN HIS HEART FOR MILITARY VETERANS

Frankly, we were surprised when the Disabled Veterans Alliance chose to honor Gene Simmons with a Patriotism Award for his support of our troops. Gene was born in Israel and never served in the armed forces. But he adamantly claims that Hollywood is shamefully neglectful about supporting our troops. Gene makes a point of visiting military hospitals and organizing charity events to raise money for veterans. He was touched to the point of tears when he accepted the award. GENE SIMMONS SAID GOODBYE TO MAKEUP AND PLATFORM BOOTS

It’s the end of an era for Gene Simmons. He and Paul Stanley officially retired from the band KISS that they started 40 years ago. A band called KISS II will continue to tour and record with none of the original band members. Gene and Paul will share in their profits, naturally. WHO’S THAT HIDING BEHIND THE ANTI-PAPARAZZI UMBRELLA?

It’s the beautiful Shannon Tweed, who really has little use for such an item. She and her husband Gene Simmons and their kids Nick and Sophie are accustomed to being photographed at odd times. Their A&E reality series Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels has been successfully on the air since 2006, so intrusive cameras are an everyday occurrence. Nobody loves publicity more than her husband Gene.

ANOTHER REALITY SHOW WEDDING: GENE SIMMONS WILL DO ANYTHING FOR RATINGS

Is Gene Simmons trying to out-do the Kardashians in the fame-whore department? We can imagine how the self promoting rocker is envious or perhaps inspired by the Kardashian steamroller of financial success. THAT explains his sudden desire to get married on TV after a lifetime of being adamantly against the institution. Ratings competition changes everything. At the beginning of this season of “Family Jewels” Gene wanted us to believe he and Shannon Tweed were splitting up. Next he proposed on camera and set a wedding date – October 1 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Are we running out of ideas? (Above, son Nick, 22, Gene, Shannon, and daughter Sophie, 19)

SHANNON TWEED GOES THE EXTRA MILE

One thing about “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” star Shannon Tweed – when she hosts a charity event, she really gets involved. She hosted an outdoor tea in Westlake for the Cure in the Canyons fundraiser for breast cancer research and she made a revealing speech. Shannon spoke about the need for open communication about the disease. She related that a few years ago, when her teenage son Nick was dating his first “serious” girlfriend, he came to Shannon and told her he was upset because he felt a lump in his girlfriend’s breast. He hadn’t said anything and didn’t know what to do. Shannon urged him to tell the girl immediately so she could be checked. He did, and everything turned out OK. Shannon praised him for sharing the information with her and doing something about it. Shannon also contributed some physical labor for the event. Journalist Sue Facter noted that Shannon was seen picking up tables and chairs and hauling them into the shade (in high heels, yet) when the weather turned hot. Family Jewels has been renewed for a fourth season.
