JOHN TRAVOLTA: FROM HAIRSPRAY TO HOGS

It wasn’t easy prepping John Travolta for reshoots for his movie Wild Hogs. The movie is about four suburban guys who hit the road on bikes looking for adventure and it stars Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H Macy and Tim Allen. Hogs wrapped last summer and since then, John filmed Hairspray, starring in drag as Edna Turnblad. He happily packed on a few pounds for the hefty Edna character, so when he was called in for Hog reshoots recently, he didn’t look the same. Wardrobe had to scramble to alter stuff and find clothes that fit and disguised his size. Travolta’s hair was a totally different color so it had to be re-dyed to match his Hogs hairpiece. Did you know he wears a full toupee that goes from temple to temple? When he’s wearing a baseball cap it means he doesn’t have his hairpiece on. The whole hair process was done in total privacy behind closed doors – presumably so nosey people like us won’t take a photo.

JOHN TRAVOLTA: COME FLY WITH HIM

We happen to be huge fans of mid-century style and these were also the golden years of airline travel – when flying was glamorous and comfortable and you got DRESSED UP to fly. And don’t forget those stewardesses in their cute mod designer outfits! Apparently John Travolta doesn’t want to let go of those warm and fuzzy memories either. He is the proud owner of a 1960’s Boeing 707 jet that was used by Qantas in its heyday. John has the plane customized with a huge master suite, childrens room , dining room etc, but he retained all the design elements and colors of the original mod decor! Plus, all his flight attendants wear original 60’s uniforms! Some aviation enthusiasts scoff at John because his plane is a “dinosaur and not fuel efficient.” but we can totally identify. Another interesting fact: John has his “pilot” uniforms, laden with gold braid and buttons, custom designed by Giorgio Armani!
