France Scientology Tom Cruise

TOM CRUISE AWARDED FRANCE’S HIGHEST HONOR – FOR WHAT?

Right before the Olympic games commenced, there was a secret ceremony in Paris where Tom Cruise received the highest French order of merit: Knight of the Legion of Honor. France’s Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, presented him with the medal because his 2017 filming of Mission Impossible “showcased our capital.” Tony Ortega of the Underground Bunker speculates that the timing cleverly implied that Tom would attend the games. He did, and Tom was photographed mingling with fans and signing autographs. Ortega points out that France is not at all supportive or welcoming of Tom’s affiliation with Scientology. The fact that he chose Scientology over his own daughter cannot be overlooked. SOME French journalists are not convinced that Tom deserves that honor…

Camila Alves France Married Matthew McConaughey

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY WAS IN NO HURRY TO GET MARRIED

Matthew McConaughey ,53, and his Brazilian model wife Camila Alves,43, were guests at the Gran Prix races in France, and from the way he holds her hand, they look very together. They met in 2006 and their first son Levi was born in 2008. Matthew was happily unmarried and didn’t want to jinx it by actually tying the knot. (He admired Kurt and Goldie’s relationship.) But in 2010 after their daughter Vida was born, Camila gave Matthew an ultimatum: it’s now or never. Matthew admitted he didn’t want to do it just because it was the RIGHT thing to do – he wanted to WANT to get married. After talking to both divorced and happily married friends, he decided he DID want to, and they married in 2012 with no regrets so far…

THE OBAMA SISTERS ARE SHOPPING IN FRANCE

School is OUT, so on Friday the Obamas arrived at Avignon in southern France for a week of vacation. They leased a magnificent house for the family and security, and have been relaxing in the sunshine. Of course Malia, 20, and Sasha, 18, want to see everything, so they went to the local farmer’s market Sunday. The market is loaded with produce- sweet strawberries etc, plus handbags, jewelry and clothing. Sasha and Malia and their entourage blended nicely into the crowd.

Love this photo of France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron, 65, because she not only looks cool and modern, but very relatable. She’s considered to be a top advisor for her husband Emmanuel Macron and they do have an amazing history. She was teaching literature in high school and fell in love with her 24 years younger student! Their clandestine relationship led to her divorcing her husband and marrying Emmanuel in 2007. Despite all, she is credited in helping him get elected. French citizens are fascinated by Brigitte, and five books have already been written about her.

Foie Gras France Pamela Anderson

PAMELA ANDERSON PLEADS WITH FRANCE TO GIVE UP FOIE GRAS

Without a doubt, Pamela Anderson is absolutely RIGHT in her opposition to torturing geese and ducks to make the French delicacy foie gras. We don’t often agree with PETA but we are grateful that Pam appeared before the National Assembly of France (and created quite a stir!) to plead her case. It’s horrifying, but ducks and geese are force fed (with a tube down their throats!) corn to enlarge their livers and produce foie gras. Pam describes foie gras as “a nonessential product unworthy of a civilized society” and we agree. 20 countries have banned the cruel practice and Pam wants France to do the same. At least she got their attention and many young French people agree with her.

France Johnny Depp Real Estate

JOHNNY DEPP’S OWN FRENCH VILLAGE IS FOR SALE

We knew that Johnny Depp had quite a nice estate in the South of France, but we didn’t realize he owned a whole VILLAGE until he put it up for sale! Price tag: 26 million. According to the LA Times, the 200 year old property is about 17 miles from Saint Tropez and consists of 37 acres, including over a dozen structures. The main house is 10,760 sq ft (12 bedrooms) surrounded by vineyards and several guest cottages, a chapel, a bar and restaurant and a workshop/garage. There is a painter’s studio, a children’s playroom, a gym, 2 pools, and a skateboard area. Furniture and personal belongings left behind are included in the sale.

AMERICAN TOURISTS NICOLE RICHIE AND FAMILY ARE VACATIONING IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE

Looking like a typical American family on vacation in Europe, Nicole Richie and her musician husband Joel Madden and their kids Harlow and Sparrow took in the local sights. They did all the touristy stuff – sailed on a yacht, had a carousel ride, ate some ice cream, shopped, and took plenty of photos of each other.

MACAULAY CULKIN FITS IN WITH THE FRENCH RIFF RAFF

Macaulay Culkin HAS gotten rather seedy since he split up with Mila Kunis. He’s currently in France where he was seen having fun on amusement park rides at a giant fair called Foure du Trone. He seems happy but looks gaunt and has straggly hair up in a top knot. His clothes hang loose in his thin frame. We have to admit he does look like a French drug addict. Hopefully, he’s not. One thing for certain – he doesn’t look like he has 15 million dollars in the bank.

HALLE BERRY HAD A RUDE AWAKENING IN COURT

As a celebrity, Halle Berry is accustomed to getting her way. Imagine her complete shock when a custody judge ruled that she and her daughter Nahla CANNOT move to France with Halle’s fiance Olivier Martinez. At least for now. Nahla’s father Gabriel Aubry doesn’t want his child to move so far away but Halle was confident that she could convince the judge that Nahla would be “safer” in France because of paparazzi laws. Apparently the astute judge didn’t consider paparazzi to be a “danger” – just an annoyance. We’re happy for Gabriel – but you can bet Halle has NOT given up on this issue. She always gets what she wants.

GUESS WHO BANNED RIHANNA’S “WE FOUND LOVE” VIDEO!

Rihanna’s “We Found Love” video has been BANNED – and you’re not going to believe WHERE! Of all places, France! Don’t they always claim to be much more sophisticated and tolerant than Americans? French authorities don’t like the “destructive behavior” in the video – or the pills, smoking, or shoplifting, slapping, or suggestive romantic scenes. So the video can only be shown after 10PM.
