THERE’S MORE TO RAMI MALEK THAN MEETS THE EYE

We learned two interesting things about Rami Malek today: First and most important – he has an identical TWIN brother named Sami. Sami, a teacher, is slightly beefier and has facial hair, but both are handsome in their own way. We found this photo online of the 37 year old twins with a friend, who is also a teacher. As you may know, Rami is dating his Bohemian Rhapsody costar Lucy Boynton, and we find that noteworthy because his LAST girlfriend was his Mr Robot costar Portia Doubleday. So THAT’S how he acquires his girlfriends…

WILL RAMI MALEK ROCK THE ACADEMY?

Our favorite winners at The Golden Globes were, hands down, Sandra Oh for the Killing Eve series and Rami Malek as Best Actor for Bohemian Rhapsody. The HFPA really got it right with these two, and Rami was a total and delightful surprise. Come to think of it, did ANY other leading man up for Best Actor this year deserve the award MORE than Rami? He had the difficult job of BECOMING an iconic rock star and his performance was flawless. Not only that, but the movie was universally appreciated and successful. We hope he gets an Oscar too.

IGNORE BAD REVIEWS: BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY WILL ROCK YOU!

Rami Malek did an amazing job of imitating Freddie Mercury – we couldn’t take our eyes off his teeth. There’s nothing more colorful and fun than London in the 70’s, so the whole music and fashion scene (Biba!) is enchanting. Freddie’s life story takes precedence over the band as a whole, and that was a good idea. Granted, the debauched details of Freddie’s drug and sex drenched life are somewhat glossed over, but definitely addressed. We only wish they could have featured more of his extravagant costumes. Queen’s glorious music lifts every bit of the movie that could have been depressing. You will walk out happy and wanting MORE! We can’t help but wonder what Sacha Baron Cohen’s version of Freddie would have been like – maybe he’ll make his own film…

THERE’S A GOOD CHANCE BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY WILL ROCK YOU!

Seems like we’ve been waiting FOREVER to see the Freddie Mercury story, Bohemian Rhapsody, and it finally has a release date in the fall. Original Queen band members (and producers) Brian May and Roger Taylor have been struggling to get this movie made – directors came and went, and the script was rewritten numerous times. Sacha Baron Cohen was ALMOST cast as Freddie, but left claiming “creative differences” –word leaked out that Cohen wanted an “adult film” and the Queen guys wanted “family friendly.” RAMI MALEK stepped in as Freddie, and had to learn to talk and sing with the huge prosthetic teeth he had to wear to resemble the singer. The fake teeth DID help Rami to look surprisingly like Freddie, according to the trailer…
