OTHERHOOD – SUBURBAN MOMS TAKE MANHATTAN

If you still reminisce about Sex & the City, you just might like the new Netflix movie, Otherhood, starring Patricia Arquette, Angela Bassett, and Felicity Huffman. The director and co-writer Cindy Chupack also wrote Sex & the City, and we hear there are favorable comparisons. The three stars play longtime friends worried about their adult sons who all live in Manhattan. They decide to leave the suburbs together and drive to New York to pay their sons a surprise visit (what can go wrong?) – resulting in an abundance of awkward and funny repercussions.

ANGELA BASSETT: AS SMART AS SHE IS GOOD LOOKING

We can’t help but wonder what Angela Bassett (who happens to look GORGEOUS here) thinks about the current college admission scandal. Angela, 60, happens to have a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from YALE – and her parents didn’t pull any strings to get her there. In fact, Angela grew up in a low-income family, but her smart mother emphasized the importance of good grades and insisted her children prepare for college. Angela also met her husband of 21 years, Courtney B Vance, while both were at Yale, and recently Yale gave the Black Panther actress an honorary doctoral degree. Eat your hearts out, Lori Laughlin and Felicity Huffman…

ANGELA BASSETT: WHAT YOU GET IS WHAT YOU SEE

Angela Bassett, 57, must have knocked em’ DEAD when she showed up for the premier of her husband’s FX miniseries American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson. She looks magnificent. Her husband of 19 years, Courtney B Vance plays OJ’s flashy attorney Johnnie Cochran. The Tina Turner star has been keeping rather busy herself – she’s on TV in two series- American Horror Story and Close to the Enemy, AND she stars in with Gerard Butler in London Has Fallen, coming out in March.
