The 1982 movie “The Thing,” directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell, is high on our list of The Scariest Movies Ever Made – and we don’t scare that easily. When we learned that another version of “The Thing” is being released this fall, we were naturally appalled because perfection should not be tampered with. However “The Thing 2011,” is described as a prequal and documents what happened at the Norwegian research institute in the Antarctic before Kurt’s American team arrived. Special effects have made such strides since 1982 that this film MIGHT compete with the original, but we’ll have to see it to believe it. Check out the trailer.
Gee, a remake, of a remake, of the 1950’s original – how refreshing (NOT)
A prequel is a good idea. The throbbing original soundrack is cool.
The Thing, Alien and The Exorcist. Best horror movies ever.
I will definitely go see this one. However, it would have to be pretty darn entertaining to beat John Carpenter’s 1982 version.
It’s always nice to go see scary movies in the month of October. I think it makes Halloween all the more special…..and creepy!!!
Anybody heard from my buddy Leo? I suspect he is still celebrating his birthday and mine!!! 🙂 lol
Not sure about this movie, but the Remake of Fright Night looks eerily good.
Janet, the readers are generally tired of you referring to yourself as a group of persons.
The “original” starred “Gunsmoke’s” James Arness. Check it out, JC!!
I’m sure nobody is curious about this SHIT!!!
@Patrick,
I agree with your list but Exorcist tops the list hands down. Just thinking of Regan Macneil’s face, that creepy music sends chills down the ol’ spine.
I think it is wonderful to re-make other movies and that is wonderful to come up with new ideas and more attractive people to play the parts of the movie and make it better in some way and it is good to look at improving a movie and bring attention to the other people who did the movies in the pass and it is a good way of telling this other actor and pass people..Thank you for bringing something to think about in pictures.
