ADRIAN GRENIER’S “ENTOURAGE” CHARACTER WAS INSPIRED BY VINCE VAUGHN

Much has been written and discussed about the last season of Entourage and the Hollywood Reporter had a particularly fascinating reminiscence from the creator/writer Doug Ellin. He said “The (Adrian Grenier) character is named Vince because of Vince Vaughn. It sounds crazy now, but nine years ago when I first started writing the script, I was like “Do you think we could get Vince Vaughn? It was done completely as an homage to the guy.” Come to think of it –“Entourage” bears a striking resemblance to one of our all time favorite movies “Swingers,” starring John Favreau and Vince Vaughn. (A group of cool, aspiring young guys navigating Hollywood) And now that “Entourage” is going off the air – how about a TV series based on Swingers?

  1. That ANYTHING would be based on Vince Vaughn is ridiculous. He is a schlemiel and unattractive and how he became ‘famous’ is beyond me.

  2. I have never watched this show because I can’t STAND the beyond obnoxious Jeremy Piven. He is probably THE most conceited ass I have ever seen in show biz. I saw him once on Letterman and he was really being a prince (NOT) over that crap about him eating some kind of seafood at the time and having a reaction and it screwed him up for his Broadway role. There was a lot of talk about it at the time it happened and his co-stars really hated him and called him a liar.

Anyway, on Letterman, he was his unsual asshole self, and Letterman took him apart. It was great TV and one of the best Letterman interviews because it exposed Piven’s crap. He sure was squirming that night! I’d LOVE to watch it again!

  3. Janet I rarely agree with your horrendous taste in film but ‘Swingers’ was a funny movie. A TV show based on it would only destroy it. Pleasw don’t talk rubbish.

  4. Janet, there actually was a tv pilot filmed years ago, Jon Favreau wrote the teleplay I think directed it also, he’s mentioned it in interviews.

  5. Of course every one looks toward a person they have respect for and like the way they are living there life and of course who would not want to try some of the things that they see and cross there fingers and wish well and of course in History we all follow are role models and we like what other people are doing with there lives and of course monkey see and monkey do.
