JODIE COMER DOESN’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PAYING THE RENT

Jodie Comer, 26, got lucky. Little did she know when she was cast as Villanelle in the BBC series Killing Eve, that she would be an overnight sensation and BAFTA award winner. Jodie and her costar Sandra Oh were BOTH nominated for Best TV Actress, but Sandra had already won plenty of awards in the USA. (Killing Eve also won a BAFTA for Best Drama Series.) We love this idiosyncratic series – the female characters are SO deliciously written, with a surprise around every corner. It’s given a much deserved career boost to Sandra as well as Jodie – both are getting offers right and left. We hate to see this series ever end…

JODIE COMER PUTS MALE MOVIE CRIMINALS TO SHAME

When it comes to crime thrillers, they are always dominated by men and repetitious in their violence. Unless the writing is exceptional, there are few surprises – certainly no delightful ones. Killing Eve changes everything. The female characters are both amazing and relatable- every one of them. The men are definitely supporting characters. We had never heard of English actress Jodie Comer until this series, and now we will never forget her. She must be seen to be believed. Sandra Oh is the smart and perfect opposite to Jodie’s twisted but fashionable character. This is the suspenseful crime series with a surprise around every corner, that women have been waiting for. Don’t miss it. Season 2 is here.

EMMY NOMINEE SANDRA OH GOT HER JUST DESSERTS – AND IT’S ABOUT TIME!

SO happy to see Sandra Oh become the first Asian woman to get an Emmy nomination for Leading Actress in Killing Eve! It so happens that the Killing Eve BBC series is a female led project with an amazing script about two women for a change – the men are all secondary characters. It’s interesting to note that Sandra said her character was NOT written for an Asian female – just a woman- and she was surprised to be invited to audition. Sandra pointed out how that NEVER happens – her ethnicity had always limited the roles she could audition for – thanks mostly to white men, of course. Our only Emmy complaint is that the brilliant Jodie Comer from Killing Eve (above, left) was not nominated – when you watch the series, you’ll see what we mean…

KILLING EVE IS THE SERIES YOU’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR

We are SO not surprised that the BBC America production Killing Eve is getting so many award nominations – it’s our favorite series this season and it’s all about women! Sandra Oh (love her) and Jodie Comer’s characters are so unexpected and brilliantly drawn that we were hooked after the second episode. It’s SO good that we keep putting off watching the finale because we don’t want it to end! (Luckily it’s renewed for another season) Do yourself a favor and watch this series before you read too much about it…
