The shocking murder of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele reportedly by their troubled son Nick, is all that Hollywood is talking about. We dislike writing about tragedies since gossip should make you laugh, but nonetheless we felt we needed to share what we have heard – so this is a special edition of Here’s What We Know.
Despite his many cinematic accomplishments Rob has never won an Academy Award, but that’s about to change. Our well placed source at the Academy tells us that preparations are already frantically underway to somehow honor Rob at the upcoming ceremony in early 2026. The current idea being floated around is a special segment dedicated to all of his contributions to film, as well as presenting his family an honorary Oscar.
Moments after Nick was charged in the double murder and held on a $4 million bond, discourse between the family is already happening. Some surviving relatives want to throw the book at Nick, while others feel he’s mentally ill and needs help. There’s even talked that some family members may cough up the cash to bail Nick out and then check him into a psychiatric hospital.
My source connected to the family reveals that things seemed to go south for Nick beginning in September. He allegedly was back on hard-core drugs and dealing with severe mental health issues, including schizophrenia. The family tried to get him committed under an involuntary 5150 hold, but was unsuccessful. Just weeks before the incident, they even reached out to a mental rehab rehabilitation center on the East Coast about getting him admitted, and the plan was for him to check in in early 2026 when the prestigious facility had an opening. But then all hell broke loose.
Surprising to no one, Donald Trump couldn’t help himself and made the tragedy about himself, claiming the reason hardcore Democrat Rob and his wife were murdered is because they were suffering from “Trump derangement syndrome.” This might be a bridge too far, and even some of Donald’s biggest supporters are APPALLED by his ignorance and are begging him to act like a gentleman and not a pompous ass.
Sadly, Rob and Michele were making plans to renew their wedding vows this May to mark their anniversary. A party planner was already hired and save the day cards getting ready to be sent out.

saw that rob his wife and son were at a party a conan obriens house the day before..the son was acting weird running up to many there asking are you famous? then he and his dad had a big blow out fight.

It’s all so awful, Janet, and just too much to bear. I do know that Nick Reiner’s bail has now been revoked, so he’s not getting out of jail anytime soon. Severe mental health issues, including schizophrenia, can cause this sort of violence. I expect that there will be NO trial, and frankly, no prison. Instead, Nick Reiner will plead guilty by insanity, beg the judge to not send him to prison but instead, will spend the rest of his life in a maximum security mental institution. Glad that the Academy is stepping up to the plate with a special Oscar.
