SAD AND FINAL FAREWELL FOR NATASHA RICHARDSON

Her family said a tearful farewell to Natasha Richardson today before the life support functions were disconnected. Vanessa’s husband Liam Neeson brought Natasha from Canada to Lenox Hill hospital in New York so the family could say goodbye. Her sudden death from a freak – and seemingly mild – skiing accident has saddened Hollywood where she was much admired as a person and an actress. Her mother Vanessa Redgrave is bravely consoling Natasha’s two sons, Michael, 13, and Daniel, 12. Natasha’s organs will be donated.

  1. So sad, I believe had she been in NY, she could have been saved.
    My Canadians friends agree.

  2. What a stunning tradedy. This classy lady always conducted herself in a stellar manner and she will be missed by everyone. May she rest in peace without all the drama that comes out when a celebrity passes away. Her kids need space and time to come to grips with this. Love you Natasha, say hello to my boys for me.

  3. I like her in “Parent Trap” and “Maid in Manhattan”.
Her mom is a certified loon.

  4. Anonymous @12:07 PM: Natasha Richardson suffered a catastrophic injury to her brain. She needed immediate medical attention — which, tragically, she declined. Her injury would have been just as grievous no matter the location. Ironically, if she’d lost consciousness immediately, that might have saved her life, as she would have been in no state to decline treatment. She was a very talented woman who will be missed by many.

  5. I’m worried that news of her being removed from life support and is “dead”– is a bit premature. I’m unable to find reports from ANY of the wire services stating this as fact.
Although it’s likely she’s not going to make it, I hate seeing this sort of feeding frenzy to report the death of a celebrity.

  6. I sure hope these reports are premature, too. I pray for Natasha, her family and friends. Isn’t her mother Lynn Redgrave, and her Aunt is Vanessa Redgrave?

  7. You’ve got it backwards. Her mom is Vanessa Redgrave and her aunt is Lynn. Her father is British actor Tony Richardson and she has a younger sister who is an actress too – Joely Richardson, as well as a younger brother. So very, very sad for Liam and the children, if these reports are true. From all I’ve read their’s was a successful showbiz marriage.

  8. I don’t believe the skiing accident was the cause, it was the symptom. I believe she burst a blood vessel in her brain which caused her to fall on the slopes.

  9. Wow, that’s so sad. I feel so bad for her husband and sons; the rug has just been yanked out from under them in the cruelest way. May Natasha rest in peace.

  10. I agree with Helena Handbasket about reporting this before an official announcement has been made. I’m sure there’s no prize in being “first”.

  11. Apparently she ruptured a blood vessel behind her ear, a common injury in a fall on skis. She declined treatment during the golden hour, that magic time when people have a good chance of being saved if medical treatment is administered during that first hour after injury. That was her mistake. All hospitals in the western world have protocols for this type of injury, whether you live in a civilized place that provides excellent health care to all its citizens for a monthly fee of $30, or another place which allows health care Nazis to prey on the population.

  12. “She declined treatment during the golden hour, that magic time when people have a good chance of being saved if medical treatment is administered”
In this circumstanse I doubt it would have made much difference if she departed immediately by vehicle right after the spill on the slopes. The nearest Level 1 trauma center from that ski resort is 2 hours by ground. What is needed in that particular situation is hellicopter transport. Which I now believe will be addressed. That type of injury, depending on the amount of bleeding is almost always debilitating/ fatal. The cranial pressure applied to the brain is so devistating that the brain cells die quickly.
What should be taken fom this is ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET when skiing/ snowboarding.

  13. PRAY….that God Almighty will heal her divinely, and then many atheists may believe.

  14. All the beautiful words and sentiments so graciously expressed, and then 4:43 had to crawl out of the woodwork, or was that from under a rock?

  15. God loves atheists too, nitwit. God is loving, unlike some preachers in this country who preach hate on Sunday. God may have a problem with that.

  16. I am not 4:43 PM Anonymous, but I don’t see where he/she stated that God hates atheists.

  17. Jazzie, who was this message for, regarding mixing up names????

  18. Sorry for the mix up. The message is for Janet. In the blurb she writes:
“Her family said a tearful farewell to Natasha Richardson today before the life support functions were disconnected. Vanessa’s husband Liam Neeson brought Vanessa from Canada to Lenox Hill hospital in New York so the family could say goodbye.”
She mixes up Natasha and Vanessa. The women died, the least Janet can do is proofread.

  19. Jazzie, you are absolutely right! I must admit, I missed this gross error myself when first reading this post.

  20. I don’t know if anyone could have forseen this tragedy. She took a minor spill and didn’t hit anything. Do you know how many people fall everyday on ski slopes? 99.9999999999999% of them don’t suffer head injuries and die. Natasha was up and around and walking and joking. It sounded like it was a very typical fall on the slopes. Most people don’t go running to the emergency room when they fall on a ski slope–not unless they are hurting or until they feel sick. Unfortunately in Natasha’s case that was an hour+ later and the damage was already done to her brain.
This is really one of the freak accidents; hopefully it will inspire more people to wear helmets when skiing (along with other sports activities). But anytime someone falls they can suffer a brain injury and later die. It’s happened to people who fell on tennis courts, etc…it can happen anywhere, at any time.

  21. If this happened in the U.S. they would have asked her for her Visa card before admitting her into the hospital.

  22. My heart and prayers go out to her children. So young. What sadness. 🙁

an illegal you can not only walk to the front of the line your bill will be paid by the sucker taxpayer.

  24. DO NOT SKI “IN MONTREAL”, folks!!
    (because of the faggots)

  25. I’m so sorry to read this. I was really hoping she’d pull through. Her poor family must just be devastated. What a terrible tragedy for a beautiful young woman. She will be remembered always for her grace, humor, and talent. May she rest in peace.

  26. You all are just a bunch of hypocrits. Let’s just say that this tragedy did not happen and insteas Janet posted paparazzis pics of Natasha Richardson skiing in Montreal, i think the comments would have been the same ones who make in all the other posts : Ugly old fart, fat hag, old slut……
You are a bunch of pathetic losers spilling your self hatred on others. Your lives suck because you are too stupid to make it better. Nobody will cry your deaths.

  27. No, 4:59 that ^^^^^^^ ruined everything, what 4:43 said is more beautiful than anything anyone could say because it’s TRUE. With me all it took was my faith alone and (my angel of course). May GOD comfort her family as only he can and may she rest in Peace.

  28. This story is still wrong — Vanessa is not married to Liam Neeson!

  29. Natasha’s doorman in NYC testified on a morning show that NR was so nice and always asked him about his family. I pray the family will find peace in knowing this kind, caring lady, was a true star of the first magnitude and they will see her again some day in heaven. Amen.

  31. I agree with March 18, 2.04 – there may be more to this than the fall. I had a friend who was paralysed in a car crash – they first thought it was the crash that did it, but a brain haemorraghe did it and the crash was incidental. It may just turn out the other way around.

  32. Seriously with the errors….Janet: whomever does your proofing needs some coffee or a new job…sheesh!
