Katie Holmes is picking up some coffee at a shop in New York – it looks like she walks around without any sort of bodyguard. Her play “Dead Accounts” was just cancelled seven weeks ahead of schedule due to lackluster ticket sales. From the looks of that girl up front with the eye makeup and two tone hair, maybe Katie could USE some security….

To no one’s surprise, Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher has been a box-office disappointment. The movie was based on a best selling book and fans of the novel complained loudly that Tom was the WRONG choice for the leading character, who was described as 6’5”, 250 lbs, – an ex-military cop vigilante who was a highly intimidating defender of justice. Producers should have listened to the fans, but egotistically insisted that Tom was the ideal choice and Hollywood didn’t have many hulking leading men anyway. All the shoe lifts and steroids in the world couldn’t make Tom Cruise intimidating. To be honest, it wasn’t all Tom’s fault – the story seemed absurdly repetitious – the hero got shot at least 500 times and ended up without a scratch. Today Show favorite and advertising executive, Donny Deutsch has become a sex symbol for middle-aged women the way Barry Weiss of Storage Wars has. His female fans might be a tad disappointed to see this photo of him in Miami with a girlfriend. It’s apparent that he likes very young blondes who are extremely voluptuous.

So far, Snoop Dogg’s (or is it Lion?) ad for Paramount Farms pistachios has been the most controversial and successful. Censors were so outraged by his drug-implied ad (he pours pistachios out of a pill bottle and calls it “habitual”) that it was banned by the networks. Snoop’s “Get crackin”” ad is limited to cable and online. Being banned is probably the best thing that could happen – his ads are more successful than the ones done by Snooki, The Village People, and Homer Simpson for the same pistachio campaign.

For SOME reason, nobody is paying much attention to that comic named Katt Williams who says that Jamie Foxx is gay. (Granted, he does seem a little out of control.) Williams obviously has a problem with Foxx and during an LA gig, he went on a rant about the Django Unchained star. Katt even angrily joked that HE turned down the Django role before Jamie accepted it. The comic went on to say that Jamie Foxx is having a gay affair with singer Marcus Anthony, who is signed to Jamie’s label. (He has a label?) (photo above) Gay rumors HAVE circulated about Jamie, but they were simply rumors. Neither Jamie nor Marcus have commented yet on Williams inflammatory remarks.
Her Arab boyfriend is the best thing that’s ever happened to Janet Jackson. Rumors abound that she’s engaged, and after several years of dating Wissam Al Mana they are most likely true. Billionaire businessman Wissam comes from Qatar – the world’s richest country. He’s educated, refined, and worldly, and he’s teaching Janet about the finer things in life. Her two husbands and assorted boyfriends have not been particularly successful on their own and had little to offer her. We wonder if Janey brought Wissam home to meet her family for the holidays – she’s been very hesitant to do so.(Above, they’re shopping at American Rag– a few blocks from where we live!)

Charlize Theron is still sporting the buzz cut she got for her role in “Mad Max: Fury Road” with Tom Hardy and it seems she’s getting to like it. She used to wear all kinds of hats to cover it up. You’d think she could walk around unrecognized, but that beautiful face is hard to miss. As far as we know, she still doesn’t have boyfriend and spends every spare minute with her adopted son Jackson.

We always felt bad for Robin Wright when she was married to Sean Penn because he made her and their kids live in northern California while he caroused in Los Angeles. He tried to make himself look like a hero by claiming his family “wasn’t safe” living in LA. Ridiculous. Robin had a difficult time maintaining her career at that time, but she was always supportive of Sean’s. So we are really happy to hear that Robin, 46, and her young boyfriend Ben Foster, 32, who resembles Penn in both looks and acting technique, but hopefully not in personality, are still together after more than a year and she seems quite happy. They met in 2011 while filming “Rampart.” Recently, temperamental Sean has been whining that he “never felt loved” – maybe because he’s never been very lovable. (Don’t forget he once tied up his then- wife Madonna on Thanksgiving and threatened to stick her head in the oven.)
Jack Klugman (top right,) the last remaining star of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple feature film and TV series, has died at the age of 90. Klugman played the gruff sportswriter Oscar opposite Tony Randall as the fussbudget Felix. in the popular 70’s TV series. In the 1968 movie, Walter Matthau starred as Oscar and Jack Lemmon as Felix. We loved both the movie and the series – they were all great actors who are all gone now. Which was your favorite couple? (Feel free to mix and match.)
