FORGET MADONNA’S MTV SPEECH – WHAT ABOUT THAT CRAZY OUTFIT!!

We’ve heard PLENTY about Madonna’s appearance on the MTV Video Awards – viewers were puzzled by her pointless rambling about an audition early in her career when she sang an Aretha Franklin song and was convinced that it changed the course of her life. (?) Madonna was called out for her lousy Aretha Franklin “tribute” but she insists she was only on the show to present the award for Video of the Year and was encouraged to reminisce about Aretha and it was NOT a tribute. With all this fuss about her speech, Madonna’s crazy Arabic outfit was almost forgotten. WHY she was dressed in a monumentally unflattering big black wool dress with mountains of jewelry and a headband with protrusions is the REAL mystery. Madonna was recently in Marrakech, so maybe she went shopping on a Berber neighborhood. Whatever- she looked absurd.

AMANDLA STENBERG CAME OUT AS GAY IN THE SWEETEST WAY

Amandla Stenberg, in the leather skirt, is the adorable girl you remember from The Hunger Games and the romantic drama Everything, Everything. She’s only 19, but she’s an accomplished activist and a feminist, and recently came out as gay “I realized I have a romantic love for women.” Amandla and her girlfriend, singer-songwriter Princess King (born Mikaela Straus), also 19, attended the MTV Video Awards in New York. Amandla laughingly describes her own style as “seventies news anchor meets Malibu widow.”

BOBBY BROWN IS EARNING MONEY AGAIN

Now that Bobby Brown has been cleared of introducing Whitney Houston to drugs – all is more or less forgiven. Last year’s BET movie The New Edition Story was surprisingly successful and launched the idea of the group touring again. Three of the original New Edition members are already successful as Bell Biv DeVoe, and Bobby Brown has been touring solo, so they put whatever differences they had aside, and joined up – they call the new group RBRM, combining their initials. That means four out of the original six New Edition guys are back together. It’s their prerogative…

ANGELINA JOLIE STILL WEARS BLACK ALL SUMMER

Angelina Jolie took her four youngest kids to the movies this weekend – the two older boys, Maddox and Pax had other things to do. Somehow Angelina always gets photographed when she’s out with her family, but Brad is rarely seen with his children. Brad is currently filming in LA and has permission to spend more time with the kids. Maddox and Pax still refuse to see their father, but the younger four pictured here, are fine visiting with Brad.

SO WHAT IF RENEE ZELLWEGER IS THE BREADWINNER IN HER RELATIONSHIP!

There’s SO much filming activity in Hollywood lately that actors have never been busier – Renee Zellweger, 49, has had one job after another. She recently finished playing Judy Garland in Judy, and now she’s signed to do a Netflix morality series called What/If. The series studies the ripple effect of what can happen if a decent person makes just one bad decision. Last we heard, Renee is still with her musician boyfriend of 6 years, Doyle Bramhall II. She was embarrassed last year when Bramhall’s divorce revealed that Renee was financially supporting him, including paying his credit card bills. JANET JACKSON IS WEANING HERSELF AWAY FROM BURKAS

Janet Jackson had us worried when she was married to Wissam Al Mana and photographed draped in black from head to toe like a nun. Was she going to hide behind burkas for the rest of her life? Luckily, no, but she seems to have changed her style quite a bit. Janet used to love sexy fashion, but now she seems to have gotten into the habit of wearing more and bigger clothing.
