We have to give credit to the publicist for the heist movie Widows: because they have whipped up considerable enthusiasm for the film. More than it deserves. The first explosive scene makes you feel like you’ve seen the movie before – many times over. Why does EVERY action movie start the same way – with ear-splitting detonations? All the men in Widows are despicable – the female stars try their best, but writers haven’t given them any likeable characteristics. The dismal story is set in politically corrupt Chicago where literally everyone seems to be on the take. We like someone to root for. Viola Davis’s dog was our favorite character.

Former SNL comic and Just Shoot Me actor David Spade is not only taking pretty women in tight pants out to dinner at Craig’s, but he’s got a big new job. HBO is developing a half hour comedy series (still untitled) just for him. Spade plays a 90’s grunge musician who lost his career to drugs and is now sober and working as a waiter in the Valley. Along comes a messed up twenty-something actress, and the plot thickens. Diablo Cody and Jason Reitman are writing and directing, so this is a real deal comeback for David.

For years, hairdresser (sometimes to the stars) Guiseppe Franco in Beverly Hills, has been a close friend and confidante of Mickey Rourke. Mickey can frequently be seen hanging at Franco’s salon or having lunch with Guiseppe at Caffe Roma. So, WHY is Mickey walking around in this godawful fake looking wig? Guiseppe should be ashamed for allowing his buddy to be seen like this.

If Kanye West, who knows nothing about fashion, can become a clothing tycoon, why isn’t Janelle, who has genuine taste and abundant style, in the fashion biz? We’re not sure how to evaluate this recent photo of Johnny Depp – does he look healthier? Definitely more Goth. (Don’t like that oily strand of hair) Regardless, his career still isn’t all that healthy. Johnny’s last two movies fell by the wayside – Richard Said Goodbye went straight to DVD, and the release date for City of Lies came and went. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s 60 million dollar home was directly threatened by the Woolsey wildfire last Friday and SOMEONE there had the presence of mind to HIRE a group of guys to do everything possible to fend off the fire. According to TMZ, the guys dug ditches, manned hoses and did everything firefighters do to protect a home and it WORKED. There are never enough firefighters when California has a catastrophe, so this is a brilliant solution for those who can afford it. We can’t help but wonder WHICH Kardashian came up with this excellent idea.

Apparently divorcing Channing Tatum after 9 years of marriage was the right thing to do. The World of Dance host has a thriving career and a new man already. Jenna’s new guy is Shameless actor Steve Kazee and – no surprise- he loves to dance with Jenna. (Finding a guy who enjoys dancing is essential for her.) Meanwhile, Channing is keeping company with Jenna lookalike Jessie J, and he brought his beefcake Magic Mike show to the Hippodrome Casino in London.

Seems like every time we look at Rodrigo Alves, the “Human Ken Doll,” we see some plastic surgery we didn’t notice before! Rodrigo is on the beach in the Dominican Republic, and this time we’re looking at that artificial belly button. Alves brags that he doesn’t work out – whatever musculature he has, was supplied by surgeons. Certainly contributing to his odd appearance are those false eyelashes!

Mickey Rourke is one of Hollywood’s most puzzling and eccentric characters – but he has one enduring and sweet character trait. He truly loves his dogs. He often rhapsodizes about his pooches and takes them with him whenever possible. Tonight he had a dinner date with one of them. Mickey pulled a child seat up to the table at a pizza restaurant in Beverly Hills so he and his tiny dog could enjoy eating together. (Restaurant workers watched him through the window.)
