JAPANESE BRAND FACETASM: LEVI’S WITH A TWIST

The men’s Spring/Summer collections are on the Paris runways and we were transfixed by an unfamiliar brand –Facetasm. Designer Hiromichi Ochiai’s collection was described as “unfinished completion.” The Japanese brand collaborated with Levi’s 501s and came up with a capsule collection of denim – and amazing trucker jackets. Smart move for Levi’s. All the models on the runway wore the same black lipstick and white wigs covering their faces so the audience wouldn’t be distracted from the fashion. In fact, you could barely tell male models from female. We think Japan is the new fashion capital of the world…

JON BON JOVI HAS NO USE FOR CLAIROL

Jon Bon Jovi, 57, has found the secret for growing older gracefully as a rock star. He let his hair go grey a few years ago and never looked back. We think he looks even better now than he did when he was young. Of course, he was smart NOT to grow facial hair or a grey beard to go along with his hair. His clean face is a relief – Hollywood, and the music world – are over-run with grizzled looking celebrities trying to hold onto their youth. Bon Jovi is currently performing in Liverpool.

THANK YOU TO WHOEVER STOLE THAT MARILYN MONROE STATUE!

Since it appeared in 1994, we have been appalled by this monstrosity that apparently passes for “public art.” The gaudy metallic gazebo is located at the important intersection of Hollywood Blvd and La Brea, intended as some kind of “gateway” to Hollywood. We always assumed there was some sort of political corruption between whoever paid for it and the artist. The embarrassing “art” depicts five statues of actresses in a highly sexualized and disrespectful manner. Whoever vandalized this nightmare should be rewarded, and hopefully the Hollywood chamber of commerce will re-think this situation and install a more appropriate piece of art.

RIHANNA: LOOKING GOOD IS HALF THE BATTLE

Rihanna looks drop dead gorgeous at the NY pop up party for her new Fenty collection, but so far we’re not dropping dead over her designs. We’ve only seen a few pieces from her expensive collection (her former stylist is helping with the business) – they consist of big shoulder jackets with no pants. Her fans won’t be thrilled to learn that they’ll have to shell out $1000 for a Fenty dress. We think her collaboration with Puma was a huge success because the clothes were sporty and wearable for daytime, not to mention affordable. But there’s a lot more to see, so we’re keeping an open mind…

ANDY COHEN HASN’T FORGOTTEN WACHA

Andy Cohen is setting a good example for dog owners who add babies to the household. It’s hard to imagine, but apparently some new parents are fearful that their dogs will be jealous or somehow a threat to the baby. Maybe they’re just too exhausted, but they end up giving away their once beloved pets. There’s no doubt that Andy’s Beagle Wacha was a huge part of his life before Benjamin was born by surrogate. Andy did it right – he had Wacha’s trainer on the job, making sure Wacha accepted the family addition, and the trainer declared that Wacha was absolutely no threat to Benjamin. Andy still includes Wacha in family photos and we love him for that.

KENDALL JENNER: OGLE, BUT DON’T TOUCH

In the middle of her busy day in New York, The World’s Highest Paid Model (according to Forbes) Kendall Jenner, 23, popped into a deli to pick up some snacks. She bought a mango flavored Diet Coke and what appears to be Fig Newtons for sustenance. That guy next to her, who looks a little like Pharrell, is her bodyguard, and his job is not so easy. Besides occasionally carrying her shopping bags, he has to make sure no one touches his boss, so he inserts himself between her and the fans or paparazzi, who seem to appear out of nowhere…

IS ANYBODY SURPRISED THAT BRADLEY COOPER AND IRINA SHAYK SPLIT?

Let’s face it, Bradley Cooper, 44, is more interested in his work than wallowing in domestic bliss. His failed four month marriage to Jennifer Esposito taught him a few things about himself, so he didn’t rush into marriage even when Irina Shayk became pregnant. Irina, 33, seems to have been itching to get back to her successful modeling career, so everybody’s happier single. No broken hearts there. Their little girl Lea, 2, is probably too young to understand, and Irina and Bradley are calmly working together on custody details.

THE OBAMA SISTERS ARE SHOPPING IN FRANCE

School is OUT, so on Friday the Obamas arrived at Avignon in southern France for a week of vacation. They leased a magnificent house for the family and security, and have been relaxing in the sunshine. Of course Malia, 20, and Sasha, 18, want to see everything, so they went to the local farmer’s market Sunday. The market is loaded with produce- sweet strawberries etc, plus handbags, jewelry and clothing. Sasha and Malia and their entourage blended nicely into the crowd.

TIM ALLEN : STILL INTO HOME IMPROVEMENT

Tim Allen, 66 and his 10 year old daughter Elizabeth attended the Beverly Hills Car Show for Father’s Day. The Home Improvement and Last Man Standing star has another daughter, Katherine, 30, from his first marriage. His movie Toy Story 4 was just released and Tim is extremely successful, so we were surprised to run into him not long ago at a hardware store buying plants and fertilizer. Apparently he still likes to putter around his house…

MISCHA BARTON: WHAT NOT TO WEAR TO THE MTV MOVIE AWARDS

No, this is not the mother of a bride OR a mature actress at the Oscars. Mischa Barton is only 33 years old and she’s at the MTV Movie Awards which are notoriously fun and frivolous! The beautiful Mischa starred in The O.C. back in the day, and she just joined the cast of The Hills: New Beginnings- that’s why she’s at this award show, but she seems to have forgotten how to dress for a good time.
