MEGHAN AND HARRY: THE HIGH PRICE OF FAME

In their big interview with Oprah, we were surprised when Prince Harry and Meghan talked about how upsetting it was that the Royals had cut off their security, and now they had to pay for their own. In fact, Harry added that they had never thought about making deals with Netflix and Spotify until they realized how much they would have to pay for their own security. Chris Gardner at The Hollywood Reporter researched exactly what the cost might be for the runaway royals, and we were SHOCKED. It could easily be 10 million dollars a year, depending on their lifestyle! That’s what Facebook pays to protect Mark Zuckerberg and his family – of course they probably get a lot more threats. But Oprah’s interview stirred up plenty of divisive opinions about Harry and Meghan, so they probably DO need expensive protection.

THE JOHNSON KIDS KNOW HOW TO HAVE FUN

We didn’t realize that TV personality EJ Johnson had such a beautiful sister until we saw this photo on Instagram. You might remember EJ, 28, and Elisa, 26, from Rich Kids of Beverly Hills – their parents are Magic and Cookie Johnson. They both love fashion and have even been known to share a boyfriend. EJ looks like a giant in this photo but he claims to be only 6’2”, so it must be the high heel boots. The siblings often hang with each other and were just seen partying in Miami. This pair must get a LOT of attention when they’re out together…

HONEY BOO BOO: A DOLLAR STILL MAKES HER HOLLER

While we were busy thinking about Covid and other things…Honey Boo Boo (Alana Thompson) grew up – a whole lot! She’s 15 now and in the 8th grade.(?) She is also either 4’4” or 4’11” tall – depending who you ask. Her mother June Shannon admits she blew all her TV money on drugs during the past year and recently got out of rehab. Just in time, the family is reuniting for yet another series: Mama June: Road to Redemption. In preparation for the new series, Alana has been investigating long nails and “stripper lashes” as you can see above.

NEVER MIND THE ROYALS – HERE’S THE SEX PISTOLS!

For those who have had it up to HERE with Royals and upper class Brits on TV, we have an exhilarating alternative: The Sex Pistols! Acclaimed Trainspotting director /producer Danny Boyle has started filming a six part series for FX and Hulu called Pistol. It’s based on Steve Jones‘ memoir Lonely Boy and we hear it’s an alluring peek at British street culture in the 1970’s and a refreshing point of view during the formative days of the Sex Pistols. Manager Malcolm McLaren is of course included as well as his and Vivienne Westwood’s original SEX shop on Kings Road. Young British actors that we’ve never heard of have been cast, and they just started filming in London – aiming for release in 2022.

ZAYN MALIK: HEADED IN THE WRONG DIRECTION?

Here’s something you don’t see very often – or, to be more precise – EVER. Zayn Malik, 28, is OUT OF THE HOUSE and walking down a street in public! With his girlfriend and baby, no less! Gigi Hadid is often seen pushing their baby Khai around New York in a carriage, but this is the first time we’ve seen dad show up. The reclusive former One Direction singer spends his time hiding out at a Hadid family farm in Pennsylvania or his Soho, NY apartment, where he’s been making music to no avail. Being a hermit (Zayn admits he suffers from anxiety) has NOT helped his career. He wasn’t the most popular/social guy in One Direction, but most people agreed he was the Best Looking, and he had loads of drooling fans. In January he released an album ironically titled No One is Listening, and no one did. It got decent reviews, but was the worst selling of his career. This gorgeous guy needs to get a grip and stop hiding from fans before it’s too late.

LOOK FAMILIAR? GUESS WHO THIS ROCKSTAR IS!

This stylish guy rocking purple and fuchsia, not to mention red velvet heels and a glitter mask, dined at Catch LA in West Hollywood last night. Observers of a certain generation are bound to guess that this is Boy George. But they are WRONG. This is an equally flamboyant, but much younger performer – it happens to be Adam Lambert, the current lead singer for Queen.

BETHENNY FRANKEL: FLIRTING WITH DISASTER?

Are we alone in thinking it’s not a great idea to go to the beach wearing a million dollar ring? Former Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel, 50, is being very coy about her sudden engagement to her boyfriend Paul Bernon, 43, but she’s been happily flashing a HUGE ring. So huge, that observers have been estimating its value at around a million dollars. Her new fiancé Paul is a real estate developer and comes from a wealthy family, but his net worth is estimated at less than half of Bethenny’s, so the ring is QUITE generous. Why Bethenny would choose to casually wear this ring on a Boca Raton beach is puzzling. Would YOU put on a million dollar ring to go the beach? Does she think it’s not worth that much? IS it not as valuable as it looks? One errant wave and it could slide right off her finger…

STEVIE WONDER AND THE SUNSHINE OF HIS LIFE

It’s been awhile since we saw Stevie Wonder, 70, out and about in Hollywood – he took his glamorous wife Tomeeka out to dinner. It’s a shame he can’t see her because she looks exceptionally nice in leopard tonight. Stevie and Tomeeka, a former teacher, had a big wedding at the Bel Air Hotel in 2017 and have two kids together. Stevie has always been a busy guy – he has seven other children with four other women and they all got along at the wedding. Ironically, Tomeeka is the same age as Stevie’s oldest child.

BILLIE EILISH: MAKEOVER OF THE MONTH

We didn’t even RECOGNIZE Billie Eilish at first glance. Suddenly she’s a platinum blonde glamour doll! Billie has always been insecure about her looks – she wears loose fitting but stylish clothing to completely disguise her body, explaining “I’ve never felt comfortable in small clothes.” A few years ago a guy on Twitter said that she had a “mom bod” and she was crushed. Comments like that keep her covered up. She is musically powerful, but looks-wise she lacks confidence. With all those crazy hair colors – who knew she was a natural blonde? Her new color is far from natural, but it’s nice to see her asserting herself and looking attractive. Who knows? With a a little more encouragement, “small clothing” might be next…

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE REESE WITHERSPOON

We loved Reese Witherspoon in her first film, The Man in the Moon, but even then, we underestimated this southern girl. Turns out her father was a doctor and her mother a PHD, so she was blessed with smarts AND good looks. She’s been one of the highest paid actresses in the world, and now at 45, is also a successful producer (Type A Films). So it’s not surprising that she just purchased a 9,504 sq ft, 10 bath, 7 bedroom, home in Brentwood for 15.9 million. On three “park-like“ acres, no less! We were particularly enchanted by the TWO master his and hers bathrooms (the key to a successful marriage?) – HERS has a soaking tub, and the killer closet. We also love that the 1991 built house doesn’t look like a flashy McMansion- it looks homey.
