Guy Ritchie might feel a bit threatened today. Madonna started directing her second movie called W.E. and it actually sounds fascinating and very appealing to women. Abbie Cornish stars as a young unhappily married New Yorker in 1998 who becomes obsessed with the 60 year old “romance of the century” – the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. King Edward VIII had only been on the throne for a few months when he abdicated to marry his divorced love, American socialite Wallis Simpson and the scandalous couple were given the Duke and Duchess titles. The world was captivated by this romance. Abbie Cornish’s character attends an auction of the Windsor’s valuables and finds unexpected romance of her own. Surprisingly, Madonna and her old “Truth or Dare” director Alek Kesheshian cowrote the script, and they have some powerful producers.
the story sounds intriguing. I wish Madonna kept her old face, I don’t like the new one she’s wearing… 🙁
She has lived 10 lifetimes than the average person. Not to mention the many X she has changed her hair and face.
Madonna has a great deal in common with Wallis Simpson – annoying unappealing social climbers, the pair of them.
Janet, why are you so obsessed with this filthy woman?
Do you know what Madonna’s job in movies is?
To make everyone else look young….
LOL Jc. Yeah folks that is what you end up looking like when your eating disorder, exercise addition and monstrous ego go unchecked for decades. Anyone have VanHelsing’s phone number?
because she identifies with english royalty, of course.
Too bad she can’t direct her cheek implants to look more natural.
I actually look forward to seeing this movie. Wallis Simpson is one of the most intriguing figures I’ve ever read about. Her story with the Duke is quite an interesting, scandalous piece. I think I like Madonna better behind the camera than in front of it:)
The subject matter does indeed sound interesting, and if done CORRECTLY could be fantastic. I have serious doubts however that this vain, self loving female can get out of her own way long enough to create or complete a project like this in the manner it requires for a successful run. I think others will have to fill in for her to fix it, as I don’t for a moment believe she has any of the talent she’ll need to bring this story to vivid life. I hope it’s not doomed to lay there trying to breathe like most of Madonna’s movies do…lifeless and desperate and grasping for any semblence of talent.
I think the movie will be great as long as she’s not acting in it. I caught her other film “Filth and Wisdom” two years ago and it was a hell of lot more impressive than I expected. She’s so damn controlling that directing could be her niche. So I have faith in this one even though it’s coming from the pompous one.
