Tomorrowland

We just fell in love with this educational video produced for schools by Philco-Ford in 1967 called “1999 A.D.” It’s all about the house of tomorrow (maybe inspired by our favorite section of Disneyland -Tomorrowland) and what they thought family life would be like thirty odd years in the future. Keep in mind this is long before the internet. They correctly predicted a lot of things including email – calling it “home post office” – and home shopping. But many of the great notions never came to fruition. Try to identify the FAMOUS GAME SHOW HOST who plays the dad in the future family. He said he nearly didn’t take the job because the ideas sounded so impossible. We’re always amazed because no one predicted everyone in the new millennium would be walking down the street talking on cell phones.
