DAVID DUCHOVNY: ON SECOND THOUGHT, I’D RATHER BE A MUSICIAN

David Duchovny looks perfectly content after having a satisfying lunch at Soho house. But apparently he’s not totally content with his career. The X-Files star shares the same ambition as Johnny Depp, Jared Leto, Kevin Bacon, and Dennis Quaid – they’re all actors who want to be musicians. David, who has degrees from both Yale and Harvard, just released his SECOND album, Every Third Thought, and he’s in the process of touring with his band (described as “Dad-rock” by one critic) in the US and Canada, and he’s booked in Australia next year. So who needs TV?

Ever since “The X-Files” went off the air in 2002, a group of adamant fans has been holding out for David Duchovny,54, and Gillian Anderson, 46, to get together romantically in real life. The X-Files “revival” started filming this week in Vancouver and David and Gillian are coincidentally both single right now, so if anything is destined to happen, the time is ripe. They’re filing six episodes that will debut in January, with Joel McHale costarring as an internet reporter buddy of Mulder’s. We’re hoping he’ll add some humor. Creator Chris Carter says he’s been saving weird news articles for script inspiration since X-Files went off the air, hoping for a reboot.

Now the rumors about the pair having a secret romance can start all over again – both happen to be single.

THE X-FILES REUNION IS A RAVING SUCCESS

We had no idea there were so many “X-Files” fans still out there. Comic-Con was a big draw for all those obsessed fans when they presented a 20th anniversary reunion of the Fox series. It was one of the biggest events of the show. Gillian Anderson, 44, and David Duchovny, 52, crept up the stage with flashlights like Mulder and Scully used to do. Gillian and David were very playful – they flirted and recalled their favorite scenes and answered fans questions. There is a small group of fans that INSIST David and Gillian have been having a secret affair since he separated from his wife Tea Leoni two years ago. We don’t believe it, but it’s nice to know that David and Gillian are so friendly now.

David Duchovny and his costar Natascha McElhone are both grateful to be back, busily working on “Californication.” It’s a welcome distraction for both of them. Natascha suffered a terrible loss in May when her husband of ten years, Martin Kelly, died suddenly from a heart attack. She has two sons and is expecting a third child. David is recovering from the dismal reaction to his new movie “The X-Files: I want to Believe.”
