Who would have guessed a member of he 70’s punk band The Sex Pistols would end up in Hollywood looking like a perfectly normal dude? Steve Jones is keeping cool in his shorts and flip flops and he may be a few sizes bigger, but he still has a full head of hair. And he’s sober. Although the band still makes appearances, Steve has created a new career- he has a popular daily radio show from 12 to 2 on Indie 103.1.

THE SEX PISTOLS ROCK THE SUNSET STRIP

The Roxy was jampacked with hundreds of humid fans last night as the Sex Pistols proved they’ve still got it. (The only flaw was Johnny Rotten’s peculiar Indian shirt and vest.) Young punks, old punks, people of all types and ages spilled out into the street. Hundreds of Pistols fans who couldn’t get in, blocked the sidewalk in front of the club, holding signs, screaming, jumping, and singing along with the music they could hear drifting outside. A row of fierce looking cops stood in the left turn lane in the middle of the street, poised for trouble that didn’t happen. After the awesome show, the band and their mates got roaring drunk upstairs at On the Rox with Johnny standing on a table alternately guzzling vodka and Jack Daniels. They poured liquor over each other’s heads and when the band left they staggered down the stairs followed by several very young pretty girls.

A SEX PISTOLS RIOT ON SUNSET STRIP TONIGHT?

The Roxy on Sunset Strip is bracing itself for some serious action tonight when The Sex Pistols perform. They’ve hired plenty of security and set aside On The Rox upstairs for the VIP room. A lot of the band’s fans are outraged because they couldn’t get tickets at ANY price. In fact, we’ve heard of die hard grizzled old punk fans flying in from the UK on the slim chance they might get lucky. It’s the first time the band has played at a club venue in LA. Back together are lead singer John Lydon, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and their original bass player Glen Matlock. Yeah, we’ll miss Sid Vicious, but we and a LOT of other people are dying to see this show. So watch for some fireworks on the strip tonight.

ARTIST RUSSELL YOUNG'S CULTURAL ICONS

We’re huge fans of UK artist Russell Young – his silkscreen art is highly collectible – just ask Brad Pitt. Young’s art often features self destructive cultural icons like The Sex Pistols and Jimi Hendrix (above.) Lucky New Yorkers can see his latest collection at the Vanina Holasek Gallery on West 27h St. starting September 15. Take a look and buy something while you can still afford it.
